You have nothing to worry about.The people in Alabama(especially south alabama ) are very laid back people and will be only nice to you and are not quick to judge anybody at all. I know you might think Alabama is a certain way because what you have seen on T.V., but this state is full of bi-racial children and you will be in one of the most safest places for your family in my opinion.

That area has a high represenative population of Native Americans and what one would term "cajun" population. Very rural.

That makes it sound like Mobile is redneck and racist. Sure, places like Tillman's corner and Chickasaw have redneck populations, but that's not the case at all for midtown/downtown.
