Yes, Chickasaw is an area north of Mobile. Be sure to come down to downtown Mobile and maybe the Eastern Shore if you have time.

After the 30 minutes it takes to explore all of Chickasaw, you can then spend a few days exploring Mobile/Eastern Shore.

LOL...that's precisely why he chose to live in Chickasaw. He says he loves the small town feeling yet the commuting distance to Mobile is acceptable. According to him, he can hardly wait to move there.

Chickasaw??? really??? ... there is not much there.. It does have a whataburger They might want to rethink their decision. Crime is bad there. I have a friend that wants to move his family out due to the crime.

Well, let's not scare anyone. Like any city, there are good and bad areas. From my understanding, north of Lee St. is good. South of Lee St. is not as good. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Crimes going to be in every city. Mobile's no different. Certainly can't be as horrible as the Anniston area at times

Default Missing My Sweet Home Alabama

I lived in the Midtown area and attended Murphy High and have nothing but great memories of Mobile. At 18 I moved to NYC and now at 48 I have had enough of the Big City and crave the slower paced life where everyone says "Hello" and "Thank you". For the past 15 years I've rented beach houses on Dauphin Island a place where my family had a home when I was child. I love the fact that the Island has remained much the same as in the 70's besides a couple of high rises but thankfully not like the "Redneck Riviera" (Gulf Shores).
My question is this....My fiance is in the IT business specializing in telecommunication could he find work in Mobile? We fully expect a pay cut but all will equal out in the end due to cheaper housing, property tax, car insurance, etc.
My dream is to one day purchase a home in the Belle Fountaine area on Mobile Bay, an area which is on the water but not quite as susceptible to the ravages of hurricaines.
