My current job may give a possible transfer to Daphne, AL and I am looking at a very good possibility of moving. Mid 20s, fresh college grad, looking at being outside the main city, but remotely closeby (20ish mins or so).

For the time being I've been eying the Loxley, Daphne, and Robertsdale area; and trying to factor in cost of living/crime/rent, etc. Currently I'm averaging around $550 on rent and looking at around there or a little less.

Any suggestions, comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Loxely and Daphne are nice. Robertsdale doesn't have much to offer, though. Also look into Fairhope, Spanish Fort, Midtown Mobile (I assume by outisde the main city you mean not downtown?).

I'm a traveler at heart, so it could be main city or downtown. I am into a little of everything; though I'm not a big fan of the nightclubs/bars. Anything else is fair game for the mostpart.

Oh, well the main reason I said Robertsdale wouldn't have much to offer is because of the lack of nightlife. It does have a couple grocery stores (including a Mexican one) and a couple restaraunts. Really, though, you would still probably find yourself traveling into one of the places I mentioned above (for a movie theater, art galleries, plays, etc.).

For under $500 you could probably stay at the extended stay motel or sleep in the car.
There are some places in Irvington in some old singlewides for $450 but I don't know if they have electricity.Try a roommate.

For $500 a month you should probably look in areas like Creola or maybe Wilmer (more rural). A basic one bedroom apartment in Mobile or Daphne will run $650 + utilities.

I definiately am open to the possibilities of roommates. Almost forgot that minor little detail. Forgive me as I've been looking while on vacation and my brain hasn't been fully functioning.

I did the roommate route for all of my college career and I'm hopefully looking this to jumpstart a career into the media field in radio/TV. I probably will know a lot more details if its more permanant here the middle of next week but exploring possibilities.

Don't listen to these know-it-alls. There are plenty of studio or 1 bedroom apartments throughout those areas in your price range. Just grab an apartment finder and check on craigslist. You'll find something for that price. Good luck!

I know a person that rents a furnished cottage in the back of a house in the Bluff area of Fairhope(very upscale), and they charge $600. It is currently rented but if you look closely, you can find it. Robertsdale is very boring. Check Daphne or Fairhope...check newspapers, ect. There are very cute houses that rent for $700, 2 bedrooms, again intown Fairhope. Good luck!

You can get a nice one-bedroom or studio in Mobile for $500 or less, easily. We lived in Pine Bend in a one-bedroom for $439 a month 2 years ago. I have a friend that pays just over $400 for a studio in Sutten Place. Both are nice complexes.

I'm thinking Daphne will be $500-$600? Not sure.
