Default Mobile county and Baldwin county?

It seems to me that Mobile county is trying to attract more industry and Baldwin county is trying to attract more tourism(resorts, beaches etc..). Are the two working together in order to attract more people to the area? Does Daphne, Fairhope or any of those areas across the bay have any industry or is the county mainly tourism and a suburban atmosphere to Mobile?

It`s more of a suburban atmosphere to Mobile. The income levels of Spanish Fort,Daphne, and Fairhope are high. They mainly work in Mobile County mimp.Goverment street, Bank Head and Wallace tunnels, and the bay way are cloged with Balwdin County tags during morning and afternoon rush hours. With out Mobile County there would be no indusrty in that Alabama Gulf Coast Area.

Tourism is growing in both Mobile and Baldwin Counties , Mobile`s economy isn`t driven by it though.

There's not much of a manufacturing base in Baldwin County, everything seems to be retail, tourist, or medical related. The only factories I can think of is Packard-Hughes in Foley, and International Paper in Bay Minette. There's a big nursery industry but they hire mostly immigrants on work visa's. Foley and Robertsdale doesn't really depend much on Mobile, but Daphne and Spanish Fort surely does.

Just to add, some of the people in eastern Baldwin County work in Pensacola.

I'd rather see a couple of (250'-300') midrise commercial/residential towers built around Eastern Shore Centre in Spanish Fort. It would make that development resemble the 'town center' it attempts to be.

We are considering relocating to Mobile. We have two daughters 10 and12. Were is the best place to live, Daphne, Spanish Fort, or Fairhope. Which one has the best schools and extra activities for the students. I want a school system with a lot to offer my children.

I would consider Satsuma for a shorter commute (if you're working in Mobile). Satsuma schools are pretty good from what I hear.

Commuting from Fairhope everyday would be awful in my opinion.

Spanish Fort and Daphne are great for families. Not too sure about the schools. I've heard there is a difference in fine arts opportunities at one over the other? <--- Please help clarify. Fairhope is great for families as well, but it's not good if you don't want to commute that far in the mornings.

I've noticed that there does seem to be a local clash between Mobile and Baldwin Counties. Living in Daphne doesn't make me feel separate from what's going on in Mobile or West Mobile though. I still feel involved. It's just a different place to come home to.
