Default Moving To Mobile Area

Am moving to the Mobile area for professional reasons. Work will be in Mobile but based on what I'm hearing about how low-life the area there is, would it be better to live in Florida or Mississippi? I have not been to this area since 1973 when I was stationed in Biloxi. My choice would to be out of town on 4 to 6 acres. I don't care about any malls or school systems. Hunting and fishing would be real important. Shooting ranges would be nice unless I could shoot on my own property. Preference to stay away from the tourist areas too.

Any information would be appreciated.
