Mobile is not a war zone only an area that makes up 10 percent of the city accounts for 60 percent of the crime.

Thanks for the link, PortCity! It is amazing the power that maps have. The aggravated assault map definitely puts Midtown in a very good light. As for robberies...that's just ridiculous. A lot of desperate people live around here.

Jesus, the robbery map sucks .

At least the aggravated assault and murder map is definitely localized to certain areas. That's good to know. Used to work in one of the extreme "hot spots" for aggravated assault according to first map lol. Michigan Ave. represent!

What's with all the rape?

Edit: If your browser tells you the link is broken, just google the link.

I think I see a hot spot around Azalea Rd between Airport and Cottage Hill, I suspect this mostly comes from those older apartment complexes.

This so-called "cops-on-dots" strategy is supported by academic research, said Richard Rosenfeld, a well-known criminologist at the University of Missouri St. Louis. And, generally, residents welcome the increased police presence, he said, as long as officers do not engage in pell-mell stops of random citizens or intrusive checkpoints.
I think "cops-on-dots" works, personally. Glad to see Mobile adopting this philosophy. I mean, this philosophy has always been around but ...

It would be awesome if the map showed more than just the major streets.
