Single Young Professional Relocating to Mobile
I'm relocating from Philadelphia to take a new position in Mobile. I have searched through nearly all threads pertaining to Mobile. I believe Daphne/Spanish Fort is the general consensus for the most desired places to live.
I am just curious if there are other young singles in the area. I am 25 and not looking for the crazy drunk college scene so UA is probably out, but I don't want to move into an area where everyone is married or elder.
What about downtown mobile? Are there other young singles in Daphne area?

I think you will enjoy a Midtown neighborhood the most. Many people who relocate from larger cities in the South and the North live in the downtown areas. I personally love Oakleigh Garden District, but you could live in the cute areas around Murphy High School, which are more reasonable, yet very safe. The various historic district neighborhoods have neighborhood associations that you can join to meet people regardless of where you live. Old Dauphinway is the largest and seem to have a lot of things. I'm pretty busy just attending Oakleigh Garden District Society things. But you could join all of them if you wanted to!
If you work in Mobile and want to get to know people, Midtown or Spring Hill is the way to go. I found that most people keep to themselves in the suburban areas, which is why we moved downtown. If you have your heart set on Eastern Shore/Baldwin County, I would choose Fairhope but try for the historic areas there, like the Fruit and Nut district. I just choose not to live there because it's too suburban and the traffic down 98 is too much for me. But it doesn't bother others (which I don't see how). Different strokes for different folks. But I will say that some of my friends (mid to late 30's) moved over there and then moved back, not liking it. My mom, who is in her 60's , loves it in Fairhope but she is retired.

I will also say that it is my opinion that most singles are going to live in Midtown Mobile. All of my hubby's workers, who are young professionals, live downtown, except for one who lives on the bay north of Daphne. Daphne is going to be mostly families moving there to go to the public schools there.

Midtown is nice. just research the area you're looking at closely. Spanish Fort is a very nice area but commuting across the bay can be a drag. if you're looking at renting and not buying, i wouldn't recommend Daphne or Spanish Fort. you'll be pulling your hair out at 8AM and 5Pm every weekday!
if you're looking for an apartment, i would recommend Yester Oaks or Windsor Apartments (a little old, but safe and easy access to just about anywhere you want to go) or Regency Gates (off Grelot and University. further west but nicer, newer apartments. a little more time to get to downtown/midtown).

MidTown is where all the single, hot hospital workers live as well as new attorneys. It's trendy, relatively cheap, and pretty safe. It's a short drive to downtown (where all the partying happens) and to the hospital districts, so you get a TON of single, young professionals. Also, there's a few GREAT places to eat around there. Guido's, Callahans (sp.?)- they have the best burger.

Downtowndoll and especialy brescott sumed it all up - for a single 25 year old young professional such as your self Mobile and especialy the mid town area would be a good fit for you. Spanish Fort and Daphne are both nice but they don`t fit your discription.
Thereare several new Lofts and Cono Units downtown that are in walking distance to grocery shopping,salon/barber,restaurants,coffe shops, delis, and night life of any sort.
