By right I mean right and wrong, not just what I think is right. Like the school (I think in the bitterroot) where the coaches took a bus load of kids and bought beer (and let them drink) on the way back from an event. Did they get fired? Are you kidding, heck no.... Maybe I missed something in the story or it was not reported correctly but I don't think so.
I have soooo many stories of things have been done that would curl your toes but that "good old boy" net just keeps on humming along. That's fine, the nice part is I moved here of my own accord and blame no one but myself if I allow it to affect me and mine any longer. As for boring and redneck, I have no problem with redneck, lived around many in the south for long while and as for boring, it is for me because I am unable to enjoy this place during the long winters but the summer is usually awsome!

well, as wonderful as your stories that would 'curl my toes' sound, I think I'll stay happy here. If you want to leave, that's your prerogative, and I won't try to stop you. My point is just that things are nicer here than you make them out to be.

But you are SO right about MT being a mindset. It also gets in a person's blood. The whole family was near tears driving back to Spokane yesterday. I reserved the UHaul for August and we are going back home, one way or another! The lifestyle here is NOT for me or the kids. No job is worth living in a way contrary to a person's values and life joys.

Just remember that you are most welcome to come home any time you have a mind to. We'll all be here waiting for you.
And you may find wages in Great Falls (if you choose to move here) comparable to that of spookane (Spokane) right now as Benefis expands

Things may be nicer for other people but I hope you would agree this isn't the end of the rainbow either....... I do hope you stay happy here as it takes all kinds to populate the earth and different things make different people happy, I was just voicing the things here that I see both good and bad depending on your viewpoint.

montana weather etc
I am from Missoula (don't live there anymore) and I think the economy and difficulty obtaining a good job is more of a problem than the weather. Many of us who grow up in Montana have to leave because there is limited opportunity. My father did very well for himself in Msla, and it can be done, but it is harder as some parts of the state have also gotten quite expensive (speaking of housing) in relation to the wages. I read the post where someone was describing the Chinook winds. I grew up on acreage in Lolo and I remember those winds. You could hear them coming before they rolled down the mountain (our house is in a steep canyon), and they were so nice and 'warm' They are one of my favorite memories. I laughed to myself because I am now in Indiana, soon to move to N Carolina, and noone knows what a Chinook is. My daughter was asking why a creek was dry the other day, and I explained about spring runoff, then I stopped myself, realizing they don't have such a thing in Indiana. They don't have mountains or glaciers! I also think Chicago is colder than Msla, and Atlanta Ga was sooo cold in the winter!
