I am interested in the churches in Montana. We traveled through there recently and felt comfortable there. My husband is a minister and we are willing to move if God so wills it.

You might look into some of the very small towns that may have lost their local pastor -- especially if you can do non-denominational work.

Depends on how many people are willing to donate... Lots of pastors come and go due to people needing to pay their own bills without enough to support clergy on top of it. I know many preach that God requires 10% off the top, but if it's between feeding your kids or a 10% duty I know what I would choose... (Respectfully I'm not a churchgoer, so it really makes no difference to me personally..) no offense intended, just sayin'... The man upstairs understands..

Good point. You'd probably need at least a part-time job for the rest of the week and your basic support -- small towns can't spare much. The church might own a cottage for the pastor's use, tho, which saves on housing costs.

Default Fresh Life

Hi janell.hill!
I am not sure of how you believe but I do know of one church that I can tell you about. We go to Fresh Life Church in Kalispell when we are up there. My son is very involved there and loves it. It is affliliated with Calvary Chapel and the pastor is a great teacher of the complete and infallible Word of God. No sugar-coating or compromising there. Attached is the link to the web-site. Fresh Life Church :: Kalispell, Montana
I hope this helps!

We are not interested in drawing a salary. We are both retired and receive monthly income. Though we do require a place to live. Our only desire is to work for the Lord in helping others and seeing people give their lives to God. My husband pastored churches for approx. 17 years and God truly blessed our efforts. We want to be totally dedicated to God's work and be led by him.
Thank each of you for your response.

My name is Rev. Truman Hill. I have gone to college in Cleveland Tenn. (Go Lee College Flames). I have rebuilt more churches then most people can imagine. Pastors sometimes leave a bad taste in a lot of peoples mouth. I am retired but would love to help a small church that has been split or run down because the pastor couldn't relate. I just want to see souls saved. Though I would require a place to live. I don't need to hear from doubter's. This is the time for salvation not doubt. My God still delivers miracles.

Well, that goes right back to what I suggested, especially since you won't need the town to support you -- find a small town that's lost their pastor, or even a cluster of small towns that would be happy to have a rotating pastor (this used to be common in the Old West) and offer your services. Rebuilding a church isn't just about faith or religion; it's also about keeping the community intact, which is increasingly a problem for small farm towns that are losing population.

Now as to how you'd FIND that small town, or group of small towns, likely the best people to ask are pastors in other small towns -- they'd likely know who's lost their local minister in that next town over.

BTW my great (or great-great, I forget) granddad was a famous preacher in the 1800s

Thank you for the thought. We had never thought about being circuit riders. We do like to travel and spread the gospel. That would be a good way to do it.
