Default Doilies !

My mother grew up in Asia and I don't remember where she had these but they were rice flour thin pancakes, very light and thin, not a tortilla and not a crepe. They nick-named them "Doilies".
The wrappers for lumpia can be ordered off the web just like any other "hard to find in the sticks" ethnic food item. I will at times order smoked salmon out of Alaska and tamales out of Los Angeles.
What ever happened to those little veal cutlet meat on a stick things we used to see in the stores 50 years ago ? I guess they went the way of the flavored water in the little wax bottles and the candy dots on the paper strips. At least I can still get my U-NO Bars and RC Cola.

I had to go look up what lumpia are. Seems to me the wrap is just a thin pancake suitable for deepfrying, so you could make your own?? maybe peel layers off fridge biscuits, that might work (they deepfry nicely).

Now what the heck is yaho yaho, I can't find anything about it. Or are you eating food you can't identify?

I've eaten mouse and frog, but it was a Montana field mouse, and a Montana stock pond frog, so not very international unless the frog was croaking in some foreign tongue?

Lumpia are like Chinese egg rolls but long and thin like rolled tacos.
They are good and greasy generally like anything else fried.
We tend to try to use olive oil for frying when we can.

We went out for a while to get some outside yesterday. It was sunny.
This is one of the pictures we came back with.

I'm completely lost... My grandpa used to tell me if I can't keep up with the conversation, it's best not to say anything..

(I've had some black eyes and bruises from not listening to his advice.. lol)
