I may be a generation behind you, but I do understand. I know what it's like to lose a brother, a friend, a soldier.
Some of my friends ask me why I don't put our flag, on my flagpole at half staff/mast whenever the governor orders it due to a Montana casualty overseas...

I keep mine on the top, because I don't believe that the bastards deserve to put Old Glory halfway down the pole. In honer of my brothers I fly mine at the top of the pole, because my brothers are top notch, and they didn't die for me to lower our flag, our flag needs to fly high. They would do the same if it was me. I fly it high and proud.

If it is ever me that is remembered, I hope they fly it the same way, we are bigger than me, and within me is we.

If it ever gets so bad that we have to move our flag, anyone who has served should know what to do with the flag at my house, all the provisions are there and are well cared for.

I don't know your friend EH, but I respect them, and I hope your trip goes well. Thank you for what you do.

I got me a new watch. Today is Thursday. I can now breath a sigh of relief because my world is whole again.

We loose friends and family but there is something kind of special when you loose somebody that you shared something with. For some reason, I am taking this one a little harder then I should. His son is not making phone calls, he's just kind of dumb founded, so I've had to make arrangements with the Legion, the PGR, etc. It's just harder then it should be. I'll get there, just taking time and patients. Now that I have a new watch, some of the problem has gone away. People don't understand when you make phone calls and can't tell people on the phone what day it is, what day it was, etc. So it's been trying, to say the least.

So did everyone else blow away too? Was just out doing chores and found myself in Texas. Figured it was hitting 65 to 70 mph.... just checked the weather service station a few miles down the road and they peaked at 68mph. If'n it blew like that up your way, we'll probably have to reroof the Porch.

Hey Elk, how ya doin'? Stay with us, huh?

Can you imagine, 1880's, no watch to tell you what day it is, had to write your own calendar? No puter to keep you up to date?

My grandfather used to talk of days lost. He said that they kept track of days and checked them off. Then, they'd forget to check off a day so they'd have to ask neighbors what day it was.

It is Tuesday, right?
EH, does your puter screen say the time and day down in the right hand corner?

Mine occasionally skips a day. When the computer doesn't know what day it is, I don't either.

Which is why I have the Date and Time site on speed dial, er, click
