Preacher at church described DST to a group of kids last Sunday with a sheet of paper, a pair of scissors and some tape.

He said "Do you have a favorite blanket? Well imagine this.. Cut one foot of the top of the blanket like this... Now take that same piece of blanket and stitch it on the bottom of the blanket like this (he attahced it with tape).

Now the government says we gave you and extra foot of blanket!

Neglecting the fact that you lose a little of the blanket where you've got to restitch it... same argument we hear with everything the gov't takes. Hmm...

Isn't Arizona the odd state out that doesn't do DST at all??

Coffee's on. Grits, bacon, eggs, hashbrowns to follow.

Rained last night and turned to snow about midnight. Nothing stuck, ground is too warm.

Now all you need is some palmetto bugs and you'd think you was living in the South.

Years ago, I was told that the clocks were rolled to help farmers save energy. I'm not sure I understand that. I was born and raised on a farm. We worked from "Can see, to Can't see". We got up an hour before the sun and did chores and ate breakfast. When the sun came up, we were in the field ready. We hayed until we couldn't see anymore and then went home and did chores and had supper. Usually went to bed as soon as the dishes were done. Didn't even use a clock.

I don't use an alarm clock. I get up between 5 and 5:30. When DST hit, it took me about 3 days and now I'm getting up between 5 and 5:30.

It is kind of nice to have lots of sunshine left over after a work day so a person can have some time with family and friends.

Something fun for St.Paddy's day -- a rare cloud-free satellite image of Ireland!

(if it looks solid black, turn your monitor up to FRY. It's a very dark image.)
