Coffee's on, breakfast is sizzling on the stove.

Supposed to have some thunderboomers today but I'm going to try and sneak between them and catch some fish.

Early this spring, I cut a barrel top off (30 gallon). Filled it with a good black dirt I got down in the low land next to the river. I put 3 dozen night crawlers in there and have been putting my coffee grounds in there and poured a can or two of water in there every day. Yesterday I dug a little and in less then a minute I had a dozen good sized night crawlers. So it's time for them to start earning their keep.

Thank god they were wearing life jackets. I used to be a life guard, I knowhow to swim...but I still wear one when I'm kayaking on a lake even.

Right now the river is down to normal. During spring snow run off it's about 6-7 feet deeper and a lot faster. As you can see in the foreground, we've lined the riverbank with riprap (busted up concrete).

The neighbor gets his aluminum 10 ft boat out and floats the river during flood stage. He doesn't even take a paddle. Usually 2 or 3 guys in the boat. The boat is all beat up down one side as he goes 5 miles down the river and then when he comes around the corner it slams into the concrete. But that's where he wants to doc it anyhow. hahaha

This spring, the water was well over a foot above the concrete up into where I was sitting this time taking these pictures.

Life jacket is the key. That water is COLD even during the summer. You never know what your muscles will do when they hit that water.

Hello neighbors, I am almost ashamed at how nice the summer has been so far here in the east, nearly everyday we have had a shower and only three days so far over 90!
The wheat is slow and many farmers seem to have had to hang it up. Lots of water in the fields. The amount of green is spectacular.
However we still have the flood folks in our prayers both here in Montana and the other states. The fishing at the Peck is fantastic!

I'll be heading out your way soon. Hi-Line east, then down to Glendive eventually around to Miles City... Might even make it Jordan and Circle.

Glad to hear it's still green. Lentils must be doing well.

Coffee's on.

Went fishing yesterday evening. Fish are hungry. I caught 3 nice sized trout in 10 minutes. Just using worms. 1 brown, 2 rainbows.

I've never seen a rainbow worm.
