Do went for your face? A dog would only do that once in my house.

Speeking of dogs. Neighbor has a pit bull that has run loose several times. I kindly told him, twice, keep your dog at home. Third time's a charm. His dog will no longer run loose. This time it was chasing the livestock.

MaB, 10 bucks an hour sounds like a bargain

You did the right thing clonking buster on the nose when he tried to "own" the bed. Furthermore, since he's tried to "own" it, he should flat NOT be allowed on a human spot (chair, bed). Oh, you get that, excellent.

Careful with treats, tho. In nature, the underling gives treats TO the boss... who then may graciously "share" the treat with the underling. But just giving him treats (even as a reward) if he didn't have to give up something first (which is tough to accomplish) ... that can generate the "attitude" you're noticing.

And being startled is never an excuse. Only the boss is allowed to react when startled or stepped on or whatever; the underling (that's him) has to get out of the way and apologize for being in it!

Neutering a dog with an "attitude" can actually make 'em worse -- more tendency to be human-aggressive than intact dogs (per actual research, and contrary to popular belief).

A pit that likes to chase livestock in the country has a life expectancy near that of a color blind electrician.

Not long.

I'll give 'em one Stupid Card, but they'll most seriously regret using it. Never had a dog try me twice... cuz I make it plain the first time beyond all doubt. Afterward I've had a few studiously clamp their mouths shut no matter what, tho

Dogs will be dogs, and given a chance most of 'em are gonna chase stock. So keep 'em home and they won't chase stock. How hard is that to understand??

Not just pits, and they're really not bad stock chasers comparatively speaking. Some of the worst are the herding breeds themselves, when left unsupervised.

State Fair this weekend in Great Falls. And a Powwow at Rocky Boy res. Another rodeo is calling....

Went to the water park in Billings with a bunch of small children. Good way to keep them occupied...they are nice to look at...play with...and give back to their parents!! Why did I go to the water park with this bunch? Their parents needed a break. And who else would I have an excuse to go down the waterslide with?

Okay...the zoo in Billings is major lame. But...a zoo is a zoo....we went there too. They have basically the same animals you can see down the road in Yellowstone...and a few token others...
