I could go for some chili cheese cake.

I only go into town once a month for grocerys. I pick up 8 large cans of jalapena's (the big cans at WalMart that have carrots and onions in it) and my biggest worry is I'll run out before next shopping trip. I have to ration them out.

Being from NM, chile rellenos with hatch chiles are my favorite thing.. When we lived in Alaska, I started making rellenos with poblano chiles, delicious & easy to stuff. I saw some at the little grocery here, so I'll have to make me some now that Don't Look has chile rellenos running thru my brain! We went by Mas Taco today to see if chile rellenos were the special but no luck.

They make a sweet chile relleno, although I've never made them.

Elk Hunter, that's a lot of jalapeños!!

Those are the canned ones, for meals.

These are the fresh ones for snacking while watching TV.

Default Habaneros

Now we’re talking! We must have been separated at birth EH.

I normally plant a decent sized garden every year. Primarily peppers (Serrano, Fresno, Jalapeno, Habanero) & tomatoes. One year I planted 20 Habanero plants with the idea of canning some. I ended up eating every fresh pepper myself.

Hurts so good.

You mean that 9F degrees it's supposed to be here in Boise tomorrow night? If that's you Canucks' notion of globull warning, I'd hate to see your notion of globular cooling!

I had posted a message on Facebook for all my family & friends (& enemies) to see. Instead of writing a whole new message just to post here I will paste the same message. Ya'll know what parts fit.. ;P

End of 2012 message to Everyone.

This past year has really been hard for my mom and myself and for so many others as well. We truly hope for everyone that the new year will be a lot better than this past one.

All the crap that we have been through in the last couple of months of 2012.. in and out of depression, in and out of pain, and in and out of turmoil with family members..etc. It has been one helluva roller coaster ride for us physically, mentally and emotionally. One that we would not even wish on our worst enemies.
My mom and I have had to deal with health problems, financial problems and emotional problems. The latter of which was totally uncalled for.

To those that have hurt us.. you are the ones that have to live with your selves. You are the ones that will have to explain to God why you did what you did.
To those that don't know us and chose to join in and dish out the verbal abuse and mudslinging... I will say this.. I truly hope that you or your family does not ever have to go through the hell that you were so eager to put us through. I hope you never have to suffer the anger, the pain or the humiliation that you seemed to so immensly enjoy putting us through.
We never cursed you, humilated you or spread mean nasty lies about you. We never demeaned you or demoralized you or degraded you or your family like you publicy did to us. We never bullied you or your family and friends. We never said we wished you were dead.. like you did us. So, we sorta honored your wish and have broken all contact with you. Hope you are happy now.

To our friends and family that stood by us and supported us.. God Bless you and THANK YOU. You are what makes life worth living. The love and support you have shown us will never be forgotten and no matter what we say or do.. we will never be able to say Thank You enough. We love you all and are blessed to have you in our lives. You have made us smile and feel loved and wanted and needed when everything around us seemed so dismal.
You have showed us love and compassion and strength when we so desperatly needed it. You have been true examples of what real family and friends are supposed to be and how they are supposed to act towards one another.
We hope that your lives and those of your family and friends will be truly blessed in the coming new year.

We wish you & yours a Happy and Prosperous 2013
Love and Blessings,
Valerie & Delores
HAPPY NEW YEAR

PS... I have so enjoyed spending time here "On the Porch" with all of you wonderful people. I only wish that I could personally hug you or shake your hand. May all of you have a safe, happy and blessed New Year.

~Valerie & Delores

PS.. Please DO NOT DRINK & DRIVE

Cool H.n.y. ~♥~

2012 wasn't the best for us either with surgeries after surgeries, long painful recoveries and the unexpected car breakdowns etc. Barely eating after paying off bills, there was never enough to buy gas and food all year long it seemed.
We lost a few friends and family members who died way before their time. A few good old friends and neighbors marriages falling apart, etc. etc. At least we aren't bothered by any so called "Enemies"

Now that my whining rant is done ~~~ Happy New Year Ya All ~♥~
Here is an old photo of my secret fishing spot, lets go hunt down some supper !

Yesterday, I went out and fed and watered the horses and then went over and checked the feed and water for the chickens. While there, I collected eggs. Only 2. But one hen was still setting and that particular cubbyhole usually has 3 or 4 eggs, so I didn't disturb her, figuring I would come back late afternoon and collect again. In extremely cold temps. we check for eggs, and bust ice twice a day. Well, yesterday afternoon I went in and there was only 1 egg in that cubby hole. Total of 3 eggs from 8 chickens.

So, I got all the chickens around and had a chat with them and told them that if particular farm animals didn't pull their weight one way, or the other, that I knew of a way to cull the herd and still benefit from the culls. They appeared to understand.

This morning I went out and fed and watered the horses (busted ice) and then headed for the chickens. I had anticipated the situation and was prepared. I checked all the cubby holes and found 1 egg. So, I herded all the chickens into the coup, so I would have a captive audience. I went to the 4 wheeler and came back inside and sat down. I brought with me a frying pan. At random, I picked up 3 different hens and sized them to the frying pan. I must have made an impression because when I left, all 8 chickens were in cubby holes and if I'm not mistaken, I could hear a couple of them grunting.
