I saw Animal Planet's Too Cute a couple days ago on TV. They have cute names for the pets on the show. For a mother cat, it's called Butters and one of it's kittens Noodles. This last episode they had puppies. The puppies first time to be introduced to the backyard, and out from the other side of the yard comes running a big happy-to-meet-the-new-dogs duck (I think it was a duck). It's name Toodles.

Good name for a dog. It might have felt poplular??? while working on the car or something???

My Grandparents were old time country folk. Never saw my Grandfather without a dog at his side. He felt that naming a dog was serious business. But not always politically correct, he had a hound dog named "Coon". As in "Racoon", perfectly acceptable? Except when dome folks were over, who were African American, and my Grandpa yelled, "Come on in Coon, and have some supper".

Priceless. Maybe you had to be there....

Paraphrasing what Arsenio Hall said on his show in the 80's something like, 'I won't be working for the space program any time soon. I'm not really wanting to say 'Yes NASA, No NASA...'

We've had 3 Basenji's. Our first was named Tenika. We called her 'Queen Tenika' for that very reason. Very proud and acute. Excellent hunter too. Best squirrel and rabbit dog I ever had.

Our current girl is a clown. Nothing like the first. Amazing disposition but no hunting desire. 180 degrees from Tenika.

So the new boy is home. Got him on Saturday after I spent Friday night camping with the scouts at Chinamans Gulch. 12 degrees and I froze my arse off. 1 hour if sleep if even that. All the dogs are cool with him. He walks outside by my side and sits when I stop walking. Let's hope that continues, lol.

The kids had to gove him a middle name that begins with 'N' (I guess due to pedigree or something. So his name is 'Schnitzel von Niklaus' (We celebrate St. Niklaus' Day which is before X-mas. A German tradition).

I wanted to name him 'Schnitzel von Nacho' but was outvoted.

Here is an old photograph of me 40 years ago with my first dog. I wanted to name him "Eric Von Zipper"
(from the Beach Party Movies with Annette Funnyjello !)
My wife vetoed that and we settled on "Abraham"

This is the culprit who grabbed our thanksgiving turkey and was AWOL for three days !

I made the belt that I'm wearing as well as the spiked dog collar that Abe is wearing.
My home where I had my wife take this photo of me was on pilings over the Puget Sound and I could catch salmon right off my front porch.

Once there was a landslide right next door that left baseball sized rocks all over the deck and a few on my roof. At this place we heated and cooked with wood, used a treadle sewing machine and did laundry with an old wringer washing machine.
This little community could only be accessed by steep stairways, long foot trails or by boat only. ~♥~

They get along quite well, the dog knows that the bird is the boss. ~♥~
It was warm enough today that the bird had some outside time.
