Well my numbers are always off along with the rest of them. There have been lots of studies in various areas of several states for the presence of prions in wild game and the numbers are all over the place.

Here is a link to one of Wyoming's hunt area study results. It looks like most of the hunt areas for the game that carries the prions that cause the brain rotting Illness is southeast of you.

I haven't even looked at the numbers for our state yet. There are several reasons I don't hunt or eat wild game (except a few small clean fish) and the slight possibility of getting sick from eating wild game is just one.

The proper name for the many related forms of Chronic Wasting Disease is Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy

They usually announce it on the news here and in the paper. I don't get news for the never region down by Cheyenne.

All they've announced thise year was a couple weeks ago and it hit the news as the first case found this year. It was in a mule deer taken down by Gillette.

I hunt 37 or 38.

I wish I could have moved our porch from the house we built in WV (that we sold in 2007). It was inviting and comfortable..I miss that place

Default "Almost Heaven..."

threerun... Great porch !!! ... AND house.. Must have been hard to leave it.. Cute child too.. Looks like what you had in WV was ... "almost heaven".. I'm sure you'll have the same thing again in Montana ... only this time WITHOUT the "almost".. Your family looks like a great addition to Montana.

Who wouldn't? Great digs. Maybe someday you'll build one like it here.

Are you adjusting to the 'good life' of Montana?

That first 6 months until your residency for hunting license gets established can be tough...

I won't eat Squirrel either. That's probably how Randy Quaid got so screwed up. That guy and his wife are in big trouble and think they will get refugee status in Canada for skipping felony court dates for burglary and squatting in a house they has sold years earlier. His wife fought the cop too on their arrest. I think his brain is all eaten out from eating all that wild game.

I have been known to eat a little beaver on occasion though.
I went back for more but the Beaver wasn't home. DAM !
But they've NEVER found anything wrong with good 'ole Ice Cream!

Default From the Randy Quaid cookbook ... chapter 4

I think what probably got Randy Quaid is all those years of eating "hamburger helper".. He didn't even put any game, wild or otherwise, in it.. As he said himself ... "It tastes just fine all by itself."

Smile They know they are safe in our back yard. ~♥~

Despite hunting season making them a bit more skittish, this one felt pretty safe.
I took these pics of this deer my backyard today. She had her baby with her.

After she gave me that "caught in the gun-sight look" she
turned her backside toward me, squatted and took a slash !
