Elk, that would sure do it -- any other mineral levels out of whack? they should check your bone density while this is going on; calcium leeching can be a side effect.

I once knew someone whose potassium was so chronically low (genetic condition) that her specialist prescribed (no kidding) 3 bananas per day!!
I have to drink protein shakes every day that have lots. of potassium in it. Prior to the surgery, I took potassium powder every day. ALL other levels are in the good zones, its only Magnesium that is low. My doctor talked about bone density and said because its only been since June, he's not concerned yet.

We have a peeper. He's been spotted three times in the last month. Twice. up the street, and once by Mike, in the big house. Mike got up and went in the bedroom and retrieved his pistol and went out the back door. Nothing.

In the Guns and Hunting Forum there was a thread about 'Where do you wear your concealed weapon?'. As in even when visiting relatives in their home?

I told them that I had my ccw and when I get up and get dressed, it includes my weapon. I take it off when I get undressed. Boy did I draw argument from that. They couldn't understand carrying within ones home. Evidentially they have never heard of home invasion. In 2002, I was lucky that I followed that practice. I was doing a project in Dallas/Ft Worth area, living in my 5th wheel. Was watching TV and out of the corner of my eye, the knob on my door started turning. The door opened slightly and the first thing starting through the door was a pistol. I did not have to get up and go get my weapon, I already had it.

So I've been watching for this peeper. Property is well marked, no trespassing. We have 4 dogs, but they are all friendly and won't bark at people or vehicles, so they're no help.

Personally I think whatever carry-practice makes you happy is fine. I suppose some idiot has shot himself in the butt when he sat down to watch TV, but that's hardly the norm.

The majority of self defense weapon uses, are in your own home in defense of home invasion. A person pulling a weapon out of the night stand, or hearing a noise down stairs and getting. their weapon out of the safe and going to investigate, etc. They argued that you should lay it on the coffee table or end table so its available. Bull pucky. Then its also available to grandkids that visit. I figure if I have it concealed on me, its only available to me. Plus, you don't necessarily stick to that chair. You might go to the bathroom, kitchen, etc. Can you plan the exact time of a home invasion? Its best to have it with you.

By the way, right now I am taking a break from making salsa. Remember I just made some the other day? I'm already out. This batch is mild though. Going to a baby shower on Saturday and they asked me to being salsa. Figured with a bunch of women, I'd better not make it to hot.

Sorry, almost missed the CCW conversation; I've been working on my new cookbook.

Dufus has his CCW and keeps things handy, but sometimes when we're out and about he's kinda dense. He can't hear well, so I try to nudge him and discreetly point if something doesn't look right, then he yells HUH?, WHAT? Oh, brother!

That's another thing, are there so many people that are totally oblivious to things going on around them? Seems I'm the only one that takes notice. Went to see my daughter last year and needed a rest stop. While passing through the gas station, I kept seeing weird things. A guy jumped out of his car with a big smile when he saw me drive in and ran around and opened his trunk. Then a twenty year old guy kept circling around me on his bicycle as I walked towards the restrooms. He was taking wide loops; you wouldn't notice if you weren't paying attention. Other people were joining in this crazy dance but I don't remember all of it. Then another car like mine drove in that was same make, model and color. And I have an uncommon vehicle so anytime I see another one and the same color, that's something. Now the activity took another swirl in sort of confused stops and starts. Nothing was suspicious, just all out of character and none of it made any sense.
When I got to my daughter's a few miles away, I mentioned it and she laughed. "You were at the drug drop gas station, Mom!"

Why don't you have a ccw? Are you willing to be a victim?

All if my daughters (5) have ccws because they refuse to be a victim. They are well trained, and damned accurate.

Looks like about Sunday night the weather is going to turn on us. NOAA/NWS is advising that if you haven't done so already, inventory and load up your emergency kit. Make sure you have fresh batteries, fresh power bars (anything high in carbs and high in calories).

Edit - I no sooner posted this and I got a text message from Billings NOAA saying the storm watch is in effect NOW, for my location.
