-15, about 3 inches of new powder snow, general hunting season closed yesterday

Happy Birthday a little late Elkhunter!

I was out fighting snow, cold and multiple idiots on the roads yesterday. Couple of herds of elk crossed the highway, one south of Ringling, one north, and it caused mass caos with the "hunters" on the highway. Slamming on brakes, running off the road, throwing u-turns in the middle of the highway, racing up and down the road no matter which side of the highway they were on, yeah, it was fun

I didn't have access to any of the ground the elk were on, so I just tried to dodge the idiots on the road.

Oh well, Always next year, and you have a great year to come Elkhunter!!

Happy belated B-Day Elk! Wishing we were back in MT for Thanksgiving, seems our friends in C-falls had a real bad go of it due to weather related issues.
I am wondering if your eggs came "frozen"? It was -12 after all! Always wondered about that...

Maybe it's time to get a bluetooth controlled plug for the pump house and plug a heater into it so you can turn it off and on from your bed? Or do what we did and wire up a 110v Cadet heater turned to low temp.

Either way, glad to see you were able to get up and about to take your NOA samples!
Stay safe all and know we're watching from our 77 degree house with all the doors and windows open to catch a breeze...

Speaking of the weather, is the river that flows by your place frozen over or do you still have some sections that are 'open water?
Its been frozen shut for a while now. The deer walk across it every day.

I am so stuffed.

A couple weeks back, my year and a half old, EMERSON, microwave oven, shot craps. Hit the on button and there was a loud bzzzzzzzz and an arc lightning bolt going from the top center to bottom center. Didn't think it was very safe from that point on, so it went in the trash.

So last week, I Bought a convection toaster oven, with rotisserie. Tested it by cooking a pizza the other day. Tonight, I put a 5.56 lb whole chicken on the rotisserie. 1 hour and 15 minutes and it was done. Perfect. light brown skin, very moist, I ate too much. hahaha

I love mine. Faberware, WalMart, $39.95. 2 year warrantee. I wasn't going to spend much on the very first one, not knowing if I'd like it.

Simple seasoning, salt, pepper, seasoning salt was about it, wasn't sure how it would turn out. Skin was not tough or over cooked, just right. Skin did contain all the seasoning, no penetration. Next time I'll either soak in a brine overnight, or get my cattle during out and inject it. it was plenty moist as it was, but would like to get the seasoning into the meat. Mine says it will handle up to a 5 lb bird, but I put a 5.56 lb bird in it and then tied some strings from wing to wing and drumstick to drumstick and drew them up tight. Worked great.

You won't go wrong getting one.

I definitely agree with the wit and wisdom part. In fact, I've always considered Rez as a serious contender for the $500 prize that this forum occasionally offers.
