We've been tossing around ideas on the next Sheep Wagon trip. This one, I'll be going with it the whole trip. Right now, it looks like we'll be taking off from here and touring the Black Hills of South Dakota. But that's still tentative.

Smile Pot Au Feu ~♥~

Well I had to look it up and most of the pictures looked just like my mom's good old fashioned pot roast stew.
I like stew and I like fish but I never had the guts to try a fish soup or a fish stew, ~~ yet !
I do know my bull from my bass by now though !

I caught the bass and took this photo near Thompson Falls.

welcome!
It is just a fancy Nancy way of saying pot roast
I like it cause I just keep adding stuff to it, and it is so nice and warm on a cold day.
Roast any cut of meat, beef, elk, venision.
Add your choice of seasonings, put it in a big ole pot with about 7 cups of some type of broth. Here I clean out the freezer for my parts of this and that.
Add root vegs, what ever you like, put in a roasted chicken if you want.
Let it simmer for hours,,,,,make some toasted bread and you are done. Dip out the meat and vegs, do not toss out that liquid!
Enjoy

Cholent (the "ch" is pronounced as in "chair" -- an exception to the usual rules of pronunciation) is a very slowly cooked stew of beans, beef, barley and sometimes potatoes that can be begun before Shabbat (Sabbath) and be ready for the Shabbat lunch.

I'll keep everybody posted on dates and such. Keep an eye out for a sheep wagon pulled by a team of Percherons. Wagon has a yellow canvas, can't miss it.

Last year that wagon and team went from Ranchester Wyoming to Skagway Alaska. Took 4 months.

We might need to borrow Elk's sleigh here. Started coming down this afternoon and now we're snowed in. Mind you this is down in SoCal out in the desert. I can hear one car crunching along somewhere in the distance, but can't see a single light for the whole 10 mile stretch of highway that I can see from my porch. Looks like the power is out north of me, too.

<goes out, looks again> NOW I can see what I heard a bit ago... it's a snowplow!!

<checking CalTrans site> Well, that's why there's no traffic... I-5 is closed, and there's a power line down across the highway about 4 miles west of me. I went to town earlier and came home by the back road cuz the other freeway was one solid clog (had all I-5's traffic plus its own). Was already slushed up pretty good, and if I didn't know where my driveway goes between the big pits the trash truck made, I'da never found it. Or my truck woulda gone swimming, if I found one of the pits.

And I'm laughing the whole way home, thinking how this wouldn't even count as "snow" in Montana!!
