Is the meth problem as bad as they say?
I was considering to move to MT but, from all the research that I have done Im not so sure anymore. As a parent I dont want to put my children in an environment that will be bad for them. Does anyone else have info?

Thing is, it's everywhere...Montana...Missouri...Iowa...problem is, it's cheap to make. Even with the pill restrictions, the hoods just buy the raw material from China, brew it up in Mexico, and bring it over the border.

I would agree, it is everywhere. The up side here is the low population and no gang activity so it is easier to keep track of your kids. That is the key, if you parent your kids and stay on top of what they do instead of letting everyone else watch them you will be fine. Keep them busy with sports, outdoor activities etc and watch the element they run around with and there should be no problems.

No Gang activity in Montana ? It may be true that there doesn't appear to be gangs here but there are. These towns have gangs to some degree or another but they are for the most part small time wannabes at least for now.

Totally agree..........it is everywhere, and if it isn't Meth, it's Oxycontins (Drug of choice in Virginia), or Exstacy or Crack or whatever............different era, different drugs of abuse. Parenting is the issue for the most part.....some kids are just inheirantly wired wrong from the git-go. My cousin's kids are a good example....one was a 4.5 "A" student all thru school, the other dropped out in the 8th grade for the street life. Go figure. Intact, stable family, rules, and consistent discipline.
When you see groups (8-10) kids wandering around town and neighborhoods at late evening, doesn't it make you wonder "where do the parents think they are?".

Trust me when I tell you there are no gangs (organized) in the Flathead as of yet. There will always be groups of what they used to call "houligans" but gangs? Not yet. The last kids that tried the gang thing was several years ago. I spoke with the judge that finally met up with them in court and after he sent them for "mental evaluation" at the boys reformatory for about 6 months that was the end of that.
There will always be those bad seeds that hang together, have no parents for all intensive purposes so just roam. If there were gangs you would see a heck of a lot more property crime and personal crime than you do. I hope it doesn't get like other states here, if it does at least the citizens are armed and can defend themselves.....

Like I always try to tell people, it's kind of hard to do driveby's when the roads are covered with ice and snow It's also something to think about that most people here are avid hunters and can shoot 100 yards so though someone may try a driveby somebody would pick them off before they made it off the block!
I have also found that there are quite a few cops from big cities moving here and working on the local PD's so they know how to spot possible gang members. In my town a couple of bangers showed up, were recognized by a officer that had recently moved here from CA and were "convinced" that warmer climates might be best for their future. They also called their banger friends who told them to come here and told them not to bother following, that there were now cops here who knew what was up....

Nothing is ever as bad as the government says it is......problems are a great excuse for the government to spend money, so of course they will always exagerate them. And the problem will never go away until they find a bigger and better problem to spend money on, at which time they will declare the last problem solved and proceed to spend billions on the next problem.....global warm !
Remember a politician will take credit for the sun shining if you are stupid enough to beleive them, and we here in america are about the stupidest lot of sucks to come along since that last great flood......
