When I was back in Montana this past June, the Bozeman Chronicle had an article reporting that the iPhone was finally coming to Montana since AT&T was going to eventually come in....eventually.

Has this happened yet? The last I checked, AT&T still wasn't there, yet.

But with today's announcement that the iPhone is coming to Verizon, this might finally allow the iPhone to work natively in Montana without having to be perpetually roaming on another carrier's network.

AT&T bought a portion of Alltells business and I believe in March they will have the transaction complete. We have Alltell now and are required to pick new phones since the AT&T network is a different system. My wife already upgraded her phone to the IPhone but it will not be delivered until the end of February just prior to the switch.

Of course now Verizon will be offering Iphones as well.

Who the heck needs an i-phone in MT? I'd be happy if we did away with cell service altogether!

You're probably still going to have lots of areas with no cell signal--at least with your iPhone you can keep yourself entertained while hunting for bars! We're on the Idaho-Montana border, and considered calling our 5 acres the "No-Bar Ranch"

Agreed. Some may not believe it, but there were a few decades during which humankind not only survived - actually Thrived without cell phones!

I agree too. Don't like cell phones. They are fine for emergencies, or for convenience, but demand a modicum of common sense to operate.

After serving on a fire department I learned to hate cell phones just as bad as drunks if not worse.

Drunks we had to watch for mainly from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon.
Cell phone drivers could be out there 24-7 and were just as dangerous.

I have nothing against cell phones per se, I just have problems with the people who can't put them down for a minute or pull to the side of the road when they want to call or text.

And I don't see talking on a cell phone as a personal liberty, I don't care if you talk on a cell, all I ask is you pull over to do it.

I came to my conclusion after working on a wreck where we found a young woman who had killed herself and her under 5 year old daughter by talking on the phone and pulling out in front of a truck, finding her still activated phone lying next the the woman's severed head kind of sealed the deal for me.

Having an expanded service that takes more concentration to operate, just asking for more trouble unless the individual using it shows some responsibility and pulls over to surf the web.

Now, that's my type of hunting! Bar hunting! Much safer than bear hunting.

I think the worst case I've seen is a bus driver talking on a cell phone! This was in central Illinois, not Montana.

I agree about NEVER talking while driving. If someone calls me and I don't pick up, it's because I'm either driving or didn't hear the phone.
