My father, grandmother, aunt and myself grew up in Hardin. Hardin's economy is very interesting. For years it didn't have much, then in the past three or four years they started to boom with jobs. They now have a prison, a power plant and a Pamida. The previous economy was based off of the fact that they were an interstate town (located by an interstate), farming, ranching, a coal mine 40 miles away and a main tourist attraction (Little Big Horn Battlefield and the Big Horn River) in Montana. In the past few months the Big Horn River has had trouble with WY not wanting to let any water out of the damn so they can keep their recreation going on the resivour. This is essentially killing the trout in the River and the several million dollars that come into the area from tourists. Hardin's official website is
