You gotta love what can be done with numbers..........the average family has 1.7 children, so far I've never seen a .7 kid, is the one with like no left leg or something like that.......
So I wish I could take solice in those numbers above but I think I heard that some western montana counties grew by 20 percent or even more....what happens though is that when you average them out with the eastern MT counties you come up with, well you come up with 4.7. I think even the city of Missoula didn't gain that much, Because it's got a boundry around it but as soon as you consider the immediate surrounding area the percent has skyrocketed. Numbers Numbers Numbers - mixed them together with government agency and no tellin' what they'll come up with. Next time you buy any thing or pay your bills remember Uncle Sam (who also probably had a sex change by now and is called Aunt Samantha - politicaly correst ya' know) says it's only up 2 percent since last year. That's right and we're all that stupid, how stupid can they be to think that we are stupid enought to swallow that.
So you might want to 'read into' a little more what you read these days....Also there is that old saying, which I seem to find amazingly true even though it is not based in science, perhaps some ivory tower professor (like one of those 60s UM hippy ones) should get some grant money to study it, ah oh sorry - the saying, the saying is, "Don't beleive anything you read and half of what you see" - And it's so much more true today than ever before, boy the wisdom of our elders, shrugged off by the baby-bummers, shows ya' how dumb they are, anyway....ok ok, I was once interviewed briefly for a news paper news story - and yup when I actually saw it in the paper I was like - "Oh really, I don't remember saying that", I think they'd probably call it 'editing', you see that's not really lying, it's 'editing' - Now take the most sacred of sacred text - the bible, any common run of the day liberal would tell you there ain't an ounce of truth in the whole thing, then again how about your country's constitution/bill of rights - you are "free" - oh yea right, just as long as you keep giving them 1/2 a what you make and don't say the "N" word - you're free, free to do whatever they let you be free doing. "Don't beleive anything your read" - it's a good starting point, a good dose of pessimissim always pays off......"Don't beleive half of what you see" - this one is easy - Turn on your TV, better yet turn on the news, turn on the political news ! There ya' go, after watching 10 minutes of that you'll think there ain't an honest person in washington, the media or the whole country for that matter.
So CTC - you might want to re-think your ability for rational thought, with respect to government numbers anyway. And then give yourself two extra points in the game of life for new found wisdom acquired.

I didn't take the time to read all 10 pages of posts, but these "concerns" are the same so-called concerns of every, single state. The only people you hear these types of things from are those who have never traveled and/or don't like change.
Unfortunately, change is not only inevitable, it's rampant. If you don't adjust to it, you're going to be utterly miserable. Numbers and "facts" are known to be compromised in articles just like these, to suit the needs of the author. Lying to suit your own selfish needs is not an admirable trait.
People move from state to state every day. Just as people move in and out of Montana. Frankly, I'm moving to Montana within the next year. I won't be hurting your economy because I'll be self-employed as a writer. (Even if I did need a job, I wouldn't be hurting your economy.) I'm small town folk already so I won't be trying to change anything. I'm a community-minded man who's active in volunteer work in the community. What part of all of this is going to ruin Montana for you?
The "us four and no more" people have serious problems and end up doing more harm than good themselves.

You didn't read all the posts, yet you are commenting on the concerns expressed in those same posts? Having concerns does not make someone ignorant or selfish. People's concern is often the difference between a successful growth policy and rampant sprawl.

Two very old and very true sayings about journalism:
1. "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story."
2. "Never argue with a man who buys his ink by the barrel and paper by the ton."
Poor journalism and inaccurate reporting have been with us ever since Guttenberg invented the printing press. Unfortunately, I do think the quality of reporting has gotten a lot worse in the last 20 years or so. That extends to TV and the internet, as well. I have had to deal with a lot of "journalists" in my work over the last couple of decades. Quite bluntly, most of them are dumb as rocks. In some respects, I think many who work in that field today wind up there because they are unemployable anywhere else. True journalists these days shine out like a cut and polished diamond in a pile of dirt. And, if anyone thinks that I don't know of what I speak, I am a published writer.

I commented on the concerns in the original post "article." And, if you read my post more thoroughly, I never called anyone ignorant or selfish. In fact, I didn't insult anyone at all. Please do not add to my words. I expressed my opinion and did it politely. If you don't like it or agree, I'm sorry.

I know what you mean about change - take for example the change in attitudes of more and more Montanans these days - Their attitude went from "We don't mind if you put a new house or store in" to - "God that's $#@$@# enough already" So if you find some on here with attitudes not to your liking - Well we've 'changed', a change in attitude about the hordes descending upon us - it was inevitable (if I might use your word)
How come 15 years ago no one want anything to do with Montana ? Now all of sudden everybody has got to live here. What's wrong with like North Dakota, Iowa ?
I think alot of people move here for a myth that doesn't really exist, at least not in Western Montana, it should be name Northeastern Cali-tana.
You want real Montana - head east young man, head east - eastern Montana that is. For the vast majority wanting to move to Montana, they don't want real Montana they want boutique Montana, where the better off push out the not so well off and then setup coffee shops, foo-foo eating bristos, fly shops, and in the process drive up land prices and become realestate agents, developers and investers, and the locals get jobs banging nails on new houses they can't afford to buy anymore. BUT it's a free country - and nobody is saying you can't move here. And before you say I'm bitter, angry, and so on -well back your bags and come on up and take a ride down Reserve St in Missoula and then tell me how much you love the new Montana and that that's the picture of montana you had in your mind.
If it was up to me, I'd preserve this place as just the way everyone that wants to move here would expect it to be and what they'd like it to be........But silly me, bitter me, angry me, for wanting to preserve what you want to move here for..............so I guess we'll just continue to develope and trash this place so that every day, day by day it will turn into something less less of what people want to see when they move here.....you know come to think of it, if we could just redraw the state border around Reserver St - Nobody would want to move here ever again - well shy of Wally World and some land pimps(developers).
Yea WallyWorld - you gotta love change, gosh how the hell did we ever live without it up here. Yea everytime you enter those sacred doors you should get down on your knees and say a little prayer - "oh thank you oh great leaders of ours, for sending all our livelyhoods to communist china so that I can partake in all this worthless junk I'm about to consume - AMEN"

Mistakes happen. No sweat. I'm sure I could have been more clear about it myself.
