I dont do politics. I hate politics. In my experience you cant trust anybody in politics. So what's the point? lol

It seems that many here have a good life in Montana. And naturally they want to protect their way of life. That is completely understandable. It is a story as old and civilization itself. But Im sorry to tell you: change is coming.

If you can't accept change, you are on the wrong planet. It's like some song I heard says: The only thing that doesn't change is that nothing stays the same. It seems many of the changes that y'all (yes that is a word) fear have to do with population growth. Well, sorry again, but there are no signs that the population is gonna stop growing any time soon. Maybe the US should do like China and put limits on the number of children we're allowed to have. How does that sound? lol Naturally as the population grows, cities will become larger and more numerous and rural areas will decrease. Its elementary school math.

I believe that we really only have rights to control the small patch of land that we personally own. And I dont believe we have the right to draw a line in sand that we don't own and say: do not cross.

Y'know, hate to bring everyone down, but there is a TON of suffering going on in the world. Dont roll your eyes. lol

The child sex trade is a ten billion dollar a year business. Crime is raging. The war on drugs is continuing and we're losing. Tens of thousands of innocent children die every DAY because of lack of food. Slavery is alive and well. I could go on and on. There are alot of bad people on this planet and we cant get away from them all.

Why? Is it gonna stop? Does mankind have the power to stop it? They've proven they cant. I hate to do this: but look at 2 Tim. 3:1--13. OMG Politics AND religion! Im aghast!

Anyway....

We should be SO thankful for what we have. We have SO much and the majority of the world has SO little. We have no right to try to hinder those who are just trying to find a little piece of happiness.

IMHO, lol
Ok. Ive stepped down and am putting my soap box back in its cubby hole. Im sorry but I couldn't help it. Once I got started...... sigh
thanks for "listening"

You said it well. And now please say it in a NC forum/thread. Would you?!

I've been wanting to move to montana for many years, My family has lived in missouri since 1820s and needless to say have many relatives here, but since my father passed away a cpl years ago I sometimes think mabey I'd like to move, I see the point natives of montana express, here in s.w.missouri when i was a kid we would play in the road after everybody came home from work( lived outside of a small town) and when you saw a car you never saw before drive by it made you pay attention! everybody knew everybody never locked the doors, as kids we would walk about 2 miles to a little store and return soda bottles( kindas gives my age away?) no....I'm 43 y/o , but now there are SO MANY PEOPLE ! and not just the number of people , they don't do things the way we do/did.......

Promise if I ever do move there I would be the guy to help ya fix a fence...not the guy complaining about your citys water dept. and how things worked better where I CAME FROM!

btw I have a 56 chevy stepside.....hows that for fitting in?

Interesting points of view here..the solution is to return to our judeao-christian faith in the most significant way..across the board. It is the founding of our country, the peoples of our country and it is our right and heritage to keep it this way, not for others to enter and change based on where they are from. I can't imagine going to a foreign land and imposing my religion or language, not too mention accepting handouts.

Thinking of moving to Billings,Montana from CO-but definitely not fleeing anything. My wife's dream job is in Billings-yes we can probably do better financially in Montana (lower cost of housing), but have a good life here, so it is a tough decision. My first visit was encouraging-friendly people, laid back, little traffic-but boy was it flat

Heading back up tomorrow for two weeks-I plan to really sniff around and check things out in more detail

did find some good green chili downtown the last visit so that helps

Much of Colorado is also fairly flat. The area of Montana that is primarily mountainous is basically in the western part of the state. The east side really isn't all that flat except in many areas it appears that way. In the extreme eastern part of the state there is some "bad-land" topography and through out the flatter regions there are many "island" mountain ranges. Sorry to high-jack this thread into a geography topic but somebody has to do it ! But seriously most of the negative info about this state is way overblown in my opinion. I came from So. Ca. over 10 years ago and have visited over fifty towns in Montana doing craft shows and gun shows and I've lived in 9 states. I really don't see much difference in peoples attitudes anywhere for the most part. There are bitter jerks who can't seem to accept any change whatsoever everywhere most people don't pay much attention to them.
Montanafornia here we go, whether we like it or not.

I know what you mean - alot of people refuse to accept the changing attitude in montana, that changing attitude reflects the discontent in their lose of a life style. So if we get ticked when you want to put a new developement, accept the change, the change in montana's attitude and go build it somewhere else. So for a change build it somewhere else.

Default the census says...

for JoeJoeMan,

Population Growth Numbers from 2000-2006
Missoula County QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau

National ave-6.4%
Montana's growth - 4.7%
Missoula County-5.9%

and just for comparison CO-10.5%
and where I live in CO (yes we have mountains and ski areas) -Eagle County 17.8% (and 88% public land-so imagine our real estate prices)

so maybe it is slowing down for you guys and everyone is moving to CO now instead of MT. We don't have the book, but we have the song

Anyway I thought the numbers were interesting...
