we are strongly considering relocating to billings in the summer of 2012. what are some things that only someone living in billings would know? i have researched quite a bit but looking for some "insider" info... thanks!

and one major question i have is... how are the public housing sites? i live in huntington wv and the public housing apartments are covered with drugs and crime.

What? There is public housing in Montana?

Sure, there are lower-income apartments and stuff, but there is nothing like the "projects" associated with bigger cities. Billings does have some not-so-nice neighborhoods, but they aren't public housing specific. I'm really not that familiar w/ how public housing works in MT, but the impression I get is that it is more dispersed throughout different neighborhoods rather than having massive complexes devoted just to public housing - someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

yes, there is public housing in montana. i am actually having an application for public housing mailed to me here in wv. i went to the housing authority of billings website and the pictures there dont look that bad at all. a lot nicer than what we see around here. lol

My point was that the public housing in Montana doesn't scream "public housing project" like a lot of places in the east, so it isn't so obvious. They seem to be kept up pretty well here, and not all together in one neighborhood - but you probably saw that from the pictures.

that was one thing i like about it. here all the public housing complexs are falling apart and just overall dirty. not to mention the crazy amount of drugs running around and it is not a good place to raise kids.
