Hello,
Moving from Australia....was trying to see some of the fast food places on line.Only found Toco Bell.
No Mc Donalds, Burger king. KFC, Subway, Shakeys ect
Not that I like them or that most people want it there anyway just amazed.
Also food shopping, large supermarkets ? Heard there is a Walmart.Target ?
A movie theater ?
No shopping mall I guess...
Please be nice, just asking....where do most people drive to then.

Missoula has most major fast food restaraunts like KFC, McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's Taco Johns, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and Dominoes, although there is no Shakeys. There are several grocery stores (Safeway, Albertson's, Roseaurs, and local one called the Orange Street Market). There are actually two Wal-Marts and there is a Target. There is a pretty good-sized movie theater and a pretty good-sized mall. Missoula is a hub for western Montana and that part of Idaho bordering it, there is no sales tax in Montana so it gets pretty good business. Missoula is over 60,000 people. Polson on the other hand, is much smaller. It's kind of a resort town on Flathead Lake. The only fast food restaraunts I remember are McDonald's and KFC. Polson has a small theater and a Wal-Mart but no Target or mall. I think there is only one grocery store in town. People in Polson drive to Missoula or Kalispell.

Polson has a Subway as well as the McDonalds and KFC. I'm not sure what else - I don't go up there very often.

In addition to what was mentioned above, Missoula has Arby's and Quiznos, and I think that about covers it for fast food. In addition to the big grocery chains mentioned above there is also a full sized natural food store called the "Good Food Store." I think Polson has at least two grocery stores, but I don't know the details - Polson is big enough to have everything you need and while you might need to go to Missoula for some out-of-the-ordinary items that wouldn't be necessary for day-to-day items.

The KFC in Polson is no longer KFC. It is now an A & W Restuarant. The McDonald's is going strong, as is the Subway. There are several other dining establishments around.

Since you are coming from Oz, you'll want to check out the local breweries: Glacier Brewing Co in Polson is a good place to start. (Find them on FaceBook)

Food stores here include a Safeway and a Super 1, (both 'chain' grocery stores) with fresh produce, meat, poultry, etc.

Also has a Health Food Store and a WalMart and a small downtown retail shopping area. Farmer' Market every Friday May to October from 9:00am to 1:00pm - also on Facebook as Polson Farmer's Market. [ I'm the garlicguy. ]

Malls and larger stores are available in Missoula (70 miles) and Kalispell (55 miles). Both drives are scenic.

Good luck!

Let us know when you arrive.

The Mall in Missoula is called SouthGate Mall. (Inside mall)

The Mall in "Downtown" Kalispell is called Kalispell Center Mall - kinda dinky. (Inside mall)

There is a large new shopping area on the northern edge of Kalispell that has everything you can imagine, including a Cinema with about 15 or more individual theaters inside.

Is it a KFC/A&W together, like in Missoula, or is it just an A&W on it's own?

It once was a combined operation; currently is A&W only.
