Default Front porch photos of the chippy creek fire.

Here's a link to my pictures of the Chippy creek fire in the southern Cabinet Mountains. The white billowing ones we're taken yesterday at varying intervals with a several hour break between the white billowing ones and the reddish sunset ones. These pics were taken from my front porch on the northwest edge of Hot Springs. I'm glad that I have green lawns surrounding my house.

Fire update; It went from 7,000 acres to 18,000 acres in one day. It's on the Flathead reservation now.

Holy Smokes ! I'm looking at this site, and I'm looking at the smoke. I just don't want to be looking at the fire.
Web address to the site is; http://www.inciweb.org/incident/893/
It's up to 36,140 acres already, not sure of the containment .

This is turning out to be a nightmare fire season. Our family's cabin near Seeley Lake is about to go up in smoke as we speak. I don't think they are even trying to contain some of the fires, but rather are waiting for a "season-ending" event.... like a snowstorm or something. Yikes. That could be awhile.

From what I understand the fires are too eratic to even attempt containment much less structure defense. All I keep hearing is that they have not seen fire behavior like this before. I wonder if all this environmentalism and roadless rules are worth what is now happening....

There is a big meeting today at the Hot Springs school to discuss this fire.
It's up to 40,000 acres with only 5% containment. It is projected to move in the direction of our town and folks here are freaking out.

Question Any info on Big Sky Lake(fish lake)

Hi, My inlaws are in their 80's and have a log cabin on Big Sky Lake close to Seeley. They are really worried, does anybody know what's going on with the fire around there? Thanks in advance!
