The equal rights ordinance passed unanimously a couple of nights ago at a city commission hearing.

If you are talking about the bill introduced by Katherine Haque-Hausrath, that's great. It's too bad that the town has to resort to an ordinance to force this kind of thing. Should just be natural.

Firstly, if you decide in favor of a move to Montana, be sure to keep your preconceived notions of it being "a bit redneck" to yourself, as it certainly won't be appreciated by some of us in larger communities (some rural Montanans, however, might gladly embrace the label, haha). Although I can't speak for everyone, I do believe that a certain appreciation still exists for Montana's rural traditions and lifestyle, regardless of anyone's political persuasions. Montana natives in particular don't tend to appreciate the baseless stereotypes often held by outsiders--keep it light-hearted, if anything.

Secondly, if you're in search of a location in Montana where the community largely holds socially liberal attitudes, then Helena, my own favorite town in the state, would definitely be a good choice. Your sexual orientation shouldn't be an issue for anyone by and large (in fact, one of Helena's state senate districts is represented by an openly gay senator). I would also suggest looking for real-estate/rentals in Helena's southern area neighborhoods.
