My husband has a very good job offer in Kalispell Montana. We are considering moving there. I would like some info on how it really is to live there. We have 3 girls ages 16,13 and 8. Wondering how the school systems are and if kids are welcoming to outsiders there. We live in a very small town now. We both love the outdoors and hunting and fishing. Love the idea of living around the mountains. Arent afraid of the winters, we love snow and cold weather. Just worried about the schools and if my girls will fit in and other kids be accepting to them.
Are drugs a big thing there...
What do kids do for fun?
Looking at Glacier High School, any thoughts on that school
Don't want to live in town or in subdivision. Looking for a house with at least 5 acres..

Where is the job? Is the company stable?

I don't know if he has an offer with Vizn Energy but I think they may go out of business sometime this year.

Not sure how the kids are but the adults aren't too welcoming of outsiders in western Montana.

Western Montana is a great place, especially the small towns. I love places like Thompson Falls and Troy and Eureka.

With the exception of Missoula, it's a pretty conservative, family oriented, traditional values kind of area and can be very welcoming, unless you come in preaching political dogma and harping on how evil Montana is for not paying government employees more and that taxes are too low and should be raised, then you will have problems.
Not a great place for tree huggers or bunny huggers, they could find it hard to fit in.

Kalispell is high rent district, so a house and 5 acres could be pretty spendy.

For the most part though, the culture and unlimited outdoor opportunities, the natural beauty and the great people make for a very nice place to raise kids and live.

Good Luck!
