We are moving to Portland, OR and will be driving through Montana on Sunday. I've heard the reports of flooding but not being familar with the terrain and drive, I'm hoping someone could give us input on whether we should have cause to be concerned. We are primarily on I-90 but were also looking at any back road options that wouldn't add to much to our drive.

Any advice is appreciated!

Howdy.

I can't help you at all with the east side of the Continental Divide other than that friends say it is still pretty wet over there.

Here on the west side of the state, I-90 and the highways are all pretty high and dry. Secondary roads vary depending on how close to the mountains you want to get - closer is wetter as a general rule of thumb right now.

Good luck, stay safe and drive carefully!

The worst is over. I don't believe any major highways are affected any longer, so you should be fine. Have a great trip!

I drove part of I 90 over the weekend and while the Yellowstone is very high and hadn't crested at that time, the road was clear and dry. That could change so it doesn't hurt to check the road conditions when you travel, but as of Sunday, there were no problems that I saw or know of.
