It's pretty close to a lake.

Silver Star, Sheridan, Twin Bridges, Troy, Thompson Falls, Absorakee, Hall, Philipsburg, Polson, Helena, Butte, Dillon, Fishtail, and Sydney are some of my favorite places to visit in Montana. All have interesting attributes, most other places are just dumps (Darby????).

If you really want to experience Montana, get off I-90 and explore a little bit of everywhere.

Polson is a quaint small town on the South side of Flathead lake. The only thing I know about that area is that its experiencing explosive growth and Polson is no exception. I also see they have a brand new Super Wal-Mart! Way to go Polson! It is a nice area to visit, don't know if I would enjoy living there, too far away from Missoula and I don't care for the Flathead area mainly because of the two-lane highway 93 that you must take to get to Kalispell, when it is four-lane it might be drivable, now it is just frustrating.

Busby, Decker, I can name a few. Course, if you want to move to Decker you'll have to kick the current residents out. There's only one house and it's occupied.

Down in the hollow - Belt
Maybe White Sulpher Springs, Wilsall, Absarokee, and Neihart or Monarch.

Don't forget Belfry, home of the Bats (where else you gonna find that?)

And sorry, but I like Hamilton, even though it doesn't really qualify for non-touristy. Mostly because I've always liked main street and the fairgrounds.

I can't tell you about the town but we were through there last month and made a point of stopping for lunch. We'd read about the Purple Cow. Hamburgers, roast beef sandwiches, malts. Yum.

I've never seen a purple cow. I never hope to see one. But I can tell you this right now. I'd rather see than be one.
