I am trying to figure out where to move near Billings. My husband has a job opportunity in Billings but not sure about living in the city.

I've lived in and around several areas of Montana, and personally I like Helena. It's a down to earth, but not snobby area, people have been warm and welcoming to a working stiff like me, lots to do for the kids, (A co-worker is also a scoutmaster and there is a great program here) Great hunting and fishing, good trails, less meth heads than you find in Billings and Bozeman, although that stuff seems to be everywhere these days.. Unfortunately in my beloved Belgrade also...

Helena is also unique, in that it's growth is fairly stable even when the economy is bad, but it doesn't boom like Bozeman, Kalispell... just more of a steady economy. Maybe that is due to it being the capital and there are lots of State employees here. In my last year or so in the area I've noticed an unusual (but very welcome) spirit of cooperation in Lewis and Clark County and Helena. It's really nice to be around people that have a genuine desire to help others.

Just my opinion, but I love it here in Helena.

Billings has a number of great neighborhoods. Why not in Billings, since his job is there? Much easier in the winter to get to work rather than having to drive from out of town to get to the job.
