As has happened during the late summer months in many, many previous years.(and is happening right now).................smoke from forest fires located not only in the mountains (in Montana) on both sides of the valley.......but also from fires in the mountains in eastern Idaho,......this smoke and particulent comes into the valleys (both B.R. & Missoula), and can be very uncomfortabe and unhealthy........some years "for several weeks on end". It takes a significant weather change to "clear the area".

The local Chambers of Commerce and Real Estate Firms do not make a point of bringing this to the attention of potential visitors and/or transplants to this area.........I'm sure this is simply an OVER_SIGHT on their part

At least this year has been a slow fire year and we've been spared until now. Usually, "summer" is over for all intents and purposes by early August, when the smoke makes being outdoors absolutely unpleasant for the rest of the month unitl it turns cold and rainy.
