Can't find anything by that name in Montana (tho there are ranches by that name in Texas and Colorado). Nearest match was Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed

I have an old photo of the Vee Bar Ranch in Ryegate Montana 1910. It is from a collection of old photos belonging to my grandfather who homesteaded in Ryegate at that time. I shows several people on horses. I wish I could identify the people.

You could look for match up clues in the books mentioned here Golden Valley County History
or talk with folks here http://www.harlowtonmuseum.org/
or here http://mhs.mt.gov/
If anybody knows or knows who might know it could at one of these two places. Probably folks who like to help with these kind of things if they hear your interest. Probably worth a try.

Tbette, My Grandfather met my Grandmother at the V-Bar Ranch. Both were Homesteaders. My Grandmother cooked for the men working on the ranch, and my Grandfather worked the ranch. My Great Uncle, I believe was a bookkeeper for the ranch. I also believe we have the same photo as you. When I find it, I can at least give you one name.

My Grandparents met at V-Bar Ranch near Ryegate MT. They were both homesteaders. My Grand father work on the ranch and my Grandmother cooked for the men. I believe my Great Uncle was a bookkeeper for the ranch. Actually, my Grandmother became pregnant, so they married. My aunt was born 4 months later, in 1912. Around 1914, My Grandfather was run over by a plow, which cut open his chest. He had a stroke before the Doctor arrived, two days later. He survived, but could no longer work They moved back to the midwest, where they had family.
I believe we may have the same photo. When I find it, I can give you at least one name.

Birdlegs, welcome to the forum. That's a fascinating story! But the OP hasn't been back since 2011,and Tbette hasn't been back since 2016, so don't expect a response from either of them. The rest of us appreciate a good story.
