A high wind warning remains in effect until 11 pm mst sunday.

* timing and main impact: West winds will increase along the
rocky mountain front beginning late tonight and continuing
through sunday evening. However...winds will diminish below
warning levels for short periods of time before increasing
again.

* winds: Sustained west winds of 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 75
mph. Higher gusts are possible through favored mountain passes
and canyons.

* other impacts: Areas of blowing and drifting snow will reduce
visibilities to less than one half mile at times. Drivers of
high profile vehicles should use extra caution and expect
difficult driving conditions at times...especially along
north- south oriented roadways. Loose outdoor items should
also be secured.

* locations affected include: Choteau...browning...marias pass.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

this hazardous weather outlook is for portions of northeast montana. .day one...this afternoon and tonight no hazardous weather expected at this time. .days two through seven...tuesday through sunday there is the potential for strong winds in excess of 50 mph again wednesday night and thursday...and on saturday.

* timing and main impact: Periods of strong winds will continue
over the rocky mountain front and the cut bank area through
wednesday afternoon. There could be short periods of lighter
winds overnight tonight before wind speeds increase once again
on wednesday morning.

* winds: Sustained west winds of 35 to 45 mph...with gusts up
to 65 mph are expected. Wind gusts to 75 mph are possible
through favored mountain passes and canyons.

* other impacts: Areas of blowing snow in the mountains will
reduce visibilities to less than one-half mile at times.
Those driving high profile vehicles should be prepared for
strong cross winds...especially on north to south highways.

Frazer...scobey...plentywood...medicine lake...wolf point... Poplar...jordan...circle...sidney...fairview...gle ndive... Richey...terry...wibaux...opheim...culbertson 750 am mst thu dec 29 2011 light rain and freezing rain are moving east through the region. The rain is generally east of a line from opheim to glasgow to jordan. Some areas have above freezing temperatures but some are also below freezing which will lead to some slick conditions on roads...sidewalks and parking lots. Accumulations will be less than one to two hundredths of an inch. Also roads have been a bit frosty in some areas due to the melting that occurred yesterday. Allow extra time when driving this morning and reduce your speed. Be careful when walking on hard surfaces. $$

The national weather service in glasgow has issued a high wind
warning...which is in effect from 9 am this morning to 7 pm mst
this evening. The high wind watch is no longer in effect.

* winds...west 30 to 45 mph with gusts to 70 mph.

* timing...winds will increase late this morning with the
strongest winds occurring in the afternoon and decreasing after
sunset.

* impacts...higher elevations will be most likely to see the
strongest winds while those cities and towns in valleys may
not get the full brunt of the wind gusts. But winds of this
strength will blow loose objects around...peel back metal
siding and loosen shingles...and cause problems for those
driving high profile vehicles.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...
