Download Google Earth and go to Billings and select "street view" (the little orange figure on the right), and drag it to where you want to be. I just tried it and got trapped inside the Radisson Northern Hotel in 3-D--that was weird! I trust the real-life Radisson is a nicer experience...

Thanks!
Look into Billings Mt. it has a total of two sky scrapers and a real downtown bigger than a block... not huge but big enough for me.

I prefer the downtowns that are walkable and full of pedestrians, not the mass of tall office buildings. I like being able to park and then walk among people who are shopping and working in a main street downtown like most Montana towns have, with storefronts and cafes side by side.

Tho I would add that when downtown is not so much local business but is mostly bistros and cafes, that's not a real good sign for economic health. A sprinkling of such, yeah, but when it's loaded with specialty eateries... that usually means hard-goods businesses have already left the area as unproductive.

Bozeman's downtown is filled with more successful, job creating businesses than it has ever been, from East Main near Highland Blvd. where there is the Greyhound bus depot and a liquor store, convenience stores, gas stations, motels, auto mechanic, offices, the the west down main past the library, tire shops, grocery, drug stores, car dealerships, banks, clinic, sporting goods... and more. The wide variety of locally owned businesses on main street has kept the town alive. I remember in the '70's when we had empty storefronts on Main. Safeway is now building a new grocery in an old car dealership location. I wish all Montana towns had as much economic success of locally owned businesses in their downtown main streets that Bozeman has.

That's good to hear.. and shows it can be turned around. When I moved away in 1984, downtown Bozeman (previously doing fairly well) had been pretty much killed by the mall, and was mostly struggling bistros and such.

However, remember that every chain store that comes in will eventually replace a local business. Not supplement; replace. Locals just can't compete on price.

And the Rockin' R Bar has reopened! Yay! I had a drink there for the first time in '76. Rough place then, but good memories! I was really upset when it burned down...I stayed in a hotel downtown for $6 a night . I gave the manager a $10 bill, and he gave me four silver (well, at least coin) dollars in change. You bet the Old West was still alive in Bozeman in '76!
