What is the predator situation in the Great Falls area? Do you get many bears or cougars around there? We have the occasional black bear in northern Michigan, and some people claim to have seen a cougar in the center of the state....but it is the two legged predators we have to worry about here.
How about out your way?

Great Falls has close to 60,000 people. Yes, there is a possibility of bears of mountain lions coming into town, but given the population this probably doesn't always happen. I would worry about the two-legged predators more and I doubt that is a huge problem there as well.

I used to live in G Falls and yes, there are the occasional bear or lion. Mainly towards Cascade and up through the Wolf Creek Canyon though. They have wandered close to G Falls, not much to be worried about.

Thanks! I used to live in places with lots of wildlife, but haven't done for many years. Just wondered what it was like in that part of Montana.

A word of caution...there are a few rattlesnakes, even around town.

Good point. If you live near a rocky area keep you eye out for them.
