I am thinking of relocating to Browning, MT for work and would like to know about 3 things specifically. 1) I can't find any rental properties listed anywhere in Browning. Are there any resources for finding rentals that someone might know of? 2) Are there any gyms/fitness clubs in that area? I can't find any listings for such a place in the Browning area. I'm not talking about weight loss plans - I saw a couple of those. I mean a gym where I can work out occasionally. 3) Are there any grocery stores in the Browning area? I didn't see any listings for anything. I don't expect a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's...but there is a grocery store there isn't there?

Thank you!

There is not much in Browning. I seem to recall a small grocery store and a couple of restaurants when I drove thru 2 years ago. Not much else. Looked like a tough place to live. I Highly recommend checking it out closely before relocating.

Live in Cut Bank and commute. Unless you are Blackfoot, living in Browning is not a place to live. There is also East Glacier...most folks live in Cut Bank.

I'm not sure what kind of work you're looking into, but I would strongly advise not living on any reservation. The crime, poverty, and despair on those places is awful and the Blackfoot is no exception. If you want to live in that part of Montana I would recommend Cut Bank or East Glacier.

I'm a nurse and I would be working at the hospital there in Browning. I've always wanted to work with IHS, I just didn't realize they were in such remote places. Thanks for the information though. I'll look at East Glacier and Cut Bank!

We are not being alarmist (and welcome to the forum, stop by the let's visit thread) but the crime rate is a tough go.

Browning is a full service community. To answer your questions:
1) rentals tend to be word of mouth and/or posted on boards at stores etc.
2) There are gyms in the area, (high school, tribal college, etc. The Blackfeet have a boxing gym that is well known amongst fight fans.
3) They sell groceries in Browning.

Remote is an understatement to describe most Indian reservations.

Cut Bank is not bad. As for IHS...Browning is better than Poplar. Hardin is closer to Billings... years ago I worked in Browning...lots of nice folks. Great Falls is your closest "big" city...about 2 hours away. Don't live in Browning.
