Location of Billings KOA?
I'm helping my son move to Billings this coming week. He doesn't have an apt lined up yet and we will be traveling with his Honda Civic and my Hyundai Santa Fe pulling a small 5 X 8' U-Haul trailer.
Is anyone familiar with this campground? I was thinking it might be a very affordable way to go, but I'm wondering if A) it is fairly close to the city and B) what sort of parking they might have there. The Santa Fe and trailer would be left there during the day while we looked at places for him to rent.

Hi,
Have you done a "Google" search for Billings KOA? Looks like all the info you need is there.

Yes, I did, and was on the campgrounds website, but the map doesn't look to scale to me. I live in a popular resort town and the KOA that has my cities name on it is actually no where near town, it's about 45 minutes away. That's why I'm concerned and was hoping someone might have actually been to this campground.

The KOA in Billings is located is City Limits. It is a pretty nice KOA. You could also look at something along the lines of the Extended Stay hotel there. Both would be cost effective and it is getting a little cool at night with some very unpredictable weather if your planning on staying in a tent. My parents own a campground locally and they haven't had any tenters for several weeks now.

The map does have a scale, and based on that scale it appears the KOA is about 1000 feet off I-90.

Thanks Neighbor! We were going to rent a camping cabin actually. Does your parents campground have those? Are they in Billings too? I will check out some hotels, but having camped a lot as a kid and adult, I think I'd feel more comfortable leaving a trailer loaded with stuff in a campground rather than a hotel parking lot.
MM- I didn't notice the scale, I was in a bit of a hurry when I looked. Thanks.

They are about 70 miles outside Billings, an hour drive and have camping cabins also. I would agree that it is probably safer to leave a trailer loaded with stuff in a campground than in hotel parking lot. I don't think that you'll have much problem finding someplace in Billings to rent, Bozeman is much worse. My brother-in-law is dealing with that problem there, plus they have two dogs. So if anyone has a decent place in Bozeman or Belgrade that they are willing to rent to a couple with two dogs I know someone who would be interested. We wish your son good luck!

Darn, then I can't throw some business your folks way!
There seem to be a lot of apts available in Billings. I'm hoping we can find him something fairly fast, get the utilities all worked out and get him moved in in three or four days. He is taking a cat with him (he's her favorite) but he has seen a lot of apts that will accept pets, and has talked to some guy named Dax who helps people find rentals.
Thanks for your good wishes!

Careful of Dax, it's an agency that charges you for their listings. They really don't help much. It would be better to start looking on BillingsGazette.com :: at their classifieds and find one on your own or at least set up viewings of them. Heights area isn't bad although if he works downtown the heights can be hard to get into and out of during rush hour. West end has some decent apartments and there are always houses for rent. Maybe ask his future co-workers if they know of anyone that has a place for rent. That was how I found a house to rent in Billings, we paid 350 a month, it wasn't a palace but it was clean and decent with a yard, garage and good location.

He will be working at the Outback and the hospital, likely in the lab.
He was thinking about renting a room. but that could be great, or it could be horrendous. I think he'll be better off with an apt. or small house. How long ago was it that you found the $350.00 rental if you don't mind my asking?
TIA
