...winter weather advisory in effect from 11 pm this evening to
3 pm mst saturday...

The national weather service in great falls has issued a winter
weather advisory for snow and blowing snow...which is in effect
from 11 pm this evening to 3 pm mst saturday.

* timing and main impact: Snow will develop over the rocky
mountain front this evening. Expect the snow to continue through
much of the day on saturday. Highway 2 over marias pass will
become snow covered and slippery.

* snow accumulations: Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches
can be expected in the mountains and foothills...with 1 to 2
inches over the plains.

* winds and visibility: West winds of 10 to 20 mph...with gusts
around 30 mph...will combine with the falling snow to reduce
visibilities to less than one half mile at times.

* other impacts: The gusty winds will also produce areas of
blowing and drifting snow.

* locations affected include: Marias pass...st marys and east
glacier park.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREAT FALLS HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS
AFTERNOON TO NOON MDT MONDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER
IN EFFECT.

* TIMING AND MAIN IMPACT: HEAVY SNOW WILL DEVELOP OVER THE
MOUNTAINS THIS AFTERNOON. MODERATE TO OCCASIONALLY HEAVY SNOW
WILL SPREAD INTO THE PLAINS LATE THIS EVENING. THE HEAVIEST
SNOWFALL TOTALS SHOULD BE ON NORTH AND EAST FACING SLOPES OF THE
LITTLE BELT MOUNTAINS AND AREAS ADJACENT TO THE MOUNTAINS
INCLUDING MUCH OF JUDITH BASIN AND FERGUS COUNTIES. GUSTY NORTH
TO NORTHEAST WINDS WILL CAUSE BLOWING SNOW AND REDUCED
VISIBILITY. SNOW MAY INITIALLY MELT ON ROADWAYS BUT BELOW
FREEZING TEMPERATURES WILL CAUSE ICY SPOTS BY MONDAY MORNING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 6 TO 12 INCHES GENERALLY ABOVE 5000 FEET AND
3 TO 6 INCHES AT LOWER ELEVATIONS.

* VISIBILITY: BELOW ONE HALF MILE IN SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW.
