There are rude people where ever you go, of course we all now that. Are there more of them in Montana ? Hum, you'd probaby have to take a survey.
One thing I will say and have said this before - is that many that people that move/moved to Montana do so because they want to get away from crowds and people where they live, second people that do live here in many cases are use to and like the level of seclusion they have and don't want it threatend, ie. new people moving in. So you have to understand their perspective - for better or worse, afterall we are kinda' famous for the unibomber.
Also - if you are from Indiana I'm sure you don't have to move all the way to Montana to find what you are looking for. Actually if you are really looking for 'real' american, with 'real' people, if I can say it that way, well I think you'd have better luck looking in places like the dakotas, Iowa, etc.....you got to remember that the population of Montana is made up in large part by people that just moved here, Bozeman and western montana are great examples, to a lesser extent Great Falls. Whereas if you go to South Dakota - those people are generationed in, so to say. You're chances of you kids falling in with 'drugs', I would say is significantly higher in western mt than say almost anywhere in South Dakota. Montana in many cases is a dumping ground for low life out-a-states wanting to escape their current situation for whatever reason. I could name some examples, but I'll skip it. You wanna think that Montana is this small town down home folk, ranchers, etc.....yes true to an extent, but not very true in the likes of western montana - which is more like in attitude california, lots of drugs, 60s hippies, rich people, and of yes lots of weirdos, and stand-offish people in small towns. Western montana is a place where everybody in the country wants to and does move to - so it's not like you'd be moving to "Mayberry" (think Andy Griffin show)
And of course my statement doesn't apply to all of Montana, but unfortunately more so everyday.

All the new people in the area are low life's so don't add to it!

You know what Daniel? That was damned rude and totally uncalled for. You give the awesome people of Montana a bad name, by your behavior. Acting like a Richard Cranium isn't going to scare people from moving to Montana. The people who want to be there are going to come, whether you act like a fool or not. Most people know they're not low life's. They're just looking for a safe place to raise their kids and live their dream.

Your post made you look like an *ss, and thanks so much for showing your behind.

Some people on this forum like to vent. We just ignore them.

I am just checking in on this forum, and I want to say that all of your answers to this person were kind and patient. I was thinking about either deleting or closing it. I am not sure what everyone else feels. I found it rather offensive. But at the same time I found that what you all wrote proves the poster wrong.

jess..i wasn't tryin to be rude..I'm just get discouraged i guess. I have always lived in small towns. My kids do small town things. My teen girls spend more time with their animals then they do people. I dont' understand why u think i'm being rude but i'm not. I didn't think anyone was being rude to me on these post but the one and thats ok..I just ignored it. I guess i like others feel like i'm being pushed out of my own home state. I'm a stay at home mom and i just want to find a good place to raise my children. I grew up in the country and would love for them to continue doing the same..

With all due respect to the moderator - I don't think closing down a post because it is or isn't going in a certain is the answer, afterall it's just people typing words into a computer, I don't think anyone is going to eat one less noodle for dinner tonight. My point is, that they are just words, and people saying anything, they might mean it they might not.
If people were to post a whole bunch of nasty stuff about me, call me names, and be rude to me - so what, my life isn't going to change one ounce, and I'd be a fool if I let it bother me.
It's not like we are in a bar here and the name calling is going to lead to fight or something, we could type rude remarks until our fingers all fall off and no one would be so much as out of breath for the trying.
Whatever happen to that saying "Sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me" - I think we've all have just become a little to sensitive in american, a bi-produce of our pampered existence no doubt
Serisoulsy though ..................
I think we are seeing all around us the dwindling of our freedoms, initiated by others trying to impose their will onto others because they don't like what others are thinking or saying.
As long as we are human we will have feelings of love, laughter, hate and scorn, we aren't angels and we aren't perfect and we can't legislate people's thoughts or feeling out of existence or fine or jail them for what they think or say, (yes we need allowances for "Fire" in the movies) which in fact is what is happening in this country. Which certainly is a road to ruin for the human spirit, humm maybe that's part of the problem with our country these days........we can't even tolorate what other people think anymore - I think we need to tolerate what other people think and say even when we don't like it.
We can see now how certain ethnic groups can be held responsible for hate crimes and hate speech, while other ethnic groups are for all practical purposes never held accountable, even to the point of some saying that they are not capable of such acts, as if to say 'hate' or 'predjuice' is not part of their culture...And all this is done in the name of bringing equalitiy to the land - ironic isn't it.
No, trying to control the human spirit is not the answer, laws to physical protect people - yes, certainly so.......People have to be free to express themselves through words whatever way they want, or there is no freedom at all.
And now my thoughts - All that being said - it's your forum and you can do whatever you like....

I won't close it down, and thanks for the posts. Especially thanks to LeaveMeBe. I can feel your frustration. I felt it in my hometown. We moved due to a lack of jobs, but when we came back it wasn't the same town. The countryside was filled with track homes. I feel it now where I live, and I am glad that there are few jobs here and that most of the people that move here are retired, as it helps some. But I hate seeing the new tract homes that were here before we moved here. We at least bought an old farm house. I hate seeing how they have taken a historic town and added all the junky new stores on the strips into town. And I hate how people from CA (where I am from) and from back east complain that this is a hick town and want better stores where they shop and wish that the old "shacks" were taken down. I said to one person, which put a shocked look on her face, that my favorite store was a certain fruit stand. It is an old run down building with a lot of character. Someday they will even tear that down.

They don't like CA here either because CA want what they had in CA. I finally found a group of friends by joining clubs and helping out in the community. But like everyone else I would like to close the door behind me, not to certain types of people but to those that want large homes and to big business.

That would not be allowed here, but it is great that it wouldn't bother you. Not many people can say that.
