Haha, yes, there are a lot of druggies in Montana. We call the Bitterroot the Meth Capital of the World. Drug use is insanely high, and you will find just as many stoned drivers as drunk drivers.
Again, 93 is a suicide road if you're not extremely secure behind the wheel. Even then, it's risky. Drunks + stoners + deer and other assorted wildlife = 93 driving. Have fun.

Believe me the Bitterroot valley is not and never will be anything close to "the meth capital of the world", that's funny ! Tacoma Wa. is the meth capital of the world !

It appears that some think if they talk bad enough about MT people won't move here. From the looks of things I don't think it's working.....

Polson to Missoula
Hi all,
My husband, 3 sons and I just moved to Montana a few months ago. We're in Kalispell now but he's looking into taking a job in Missoula. We haven't been through a winter yet so I'm wondering if someone can tell me if the commute from Polson to Missoula would be feasible in the winter??
I'm not opposed to going a bit closer to Missoula as this would be a great job, but in the 3 months we've been here we've found a church we love here in Kalispell, are just starting to meet people and my kids are involved in some activities here that I'd hate to pull them from so soon after starting. My thought is if we can live halfway between Missoula and Kalispell we could make the trek for church when the weather allows and my husband's commute wouldn't be killer from Polson to Missoula??
But, again, this is without having seen a winter here.
Thanks for any help!!

Let's put it this way... I have friends in Polson, and we do not go see them often during winter because the highway can be a long dangerous drive sometimes. So no, I would think a commute from Kalispell to Missoula would be absolutely insane. :/ My husband commutes from the Lolo area to Missoula.... and even though it's not too long of a trip, hwy 12 can be baaaad. I worry about him driving even in summer. I think the closer you can get to your job, the better.
If you really want to get a feel for how that will be, take a week to simulate your commute, then imagine it during snow and ice.

You'd be crazy to choose to commute from Polson to Missoula and then drive to Kalispell for church....
I'm not saying that you couldn't do it, but I'd never consider doing something like that.
