Default possible summer job?

Hi everyone. I'm from England and am looking into finding a summer job at a ranch in montana. I have next to none experience and realise that any job i do would be in a household help capacity. I realise i probably sound like a little english girl out to have some fun but i would really appreciate the experinece and i understand how hard work it would be. my main question is that it seems most places will only hire those over 18 and i turn 18 on july 1st. Is it possible that somewhere would accept my application to work from june in spite of this or that they would allow me to come from july onwards for a couple of months? I understand the season is usually may to september but was just wondering if anyone could help. thanks.

Be careful and try to find a nice family and not some single dude out in the middle of nowhere, be safe and smart and you'll find a position that will be good for you. Try contacting a temp service they may be able to help you find suitable work.

May I suggest you get ahold of Xanterra parks and resorts in both Yellowstone and Glacier Nat'l Parks? They hire summer help from all over the world and put you up in lodgeing. They are on the internet at Xanterra Parks and resorts.

The season here is May to November, and they do hire with parental permission. If you have a problem contacting them, then contact me at Montanahogrider@msn and I will get you their Human Resourses number. I am not affiliated with them but Live here in Gardiner where they are Located at the North Entrance to Yellowstone Nat'l Park. They have all sorts of jobs for the summer such as housekeeping, retail sales, guide trips, resturant, laundry and a large list of others. Just tell them what ou would like to do. And yes they have horses too!

It'll come. I can't believe this post. It was me, 30 years ago. I've worked for the biggest ranches around. A couple years ago I applied for the job of Reading brands in Wyoming. The guy that interviewed me said he couldn't believe it, I had worked for the 3 biggest brands in the country. I finally turned it down because of hours and pay. They wanted 80 hours a week, even at night. Anytime a truck rolled through, I'd have to be there. Sorry, didn't like those hours. hahaha

You can work a ranch in Montana, anywhere from feeding calves to feeding the younguns. You will love it. It just don't get much better then that.

Expect to go into town maybe once a week. If that. But, once a week is enough. Don't need more then that. Expect to have great meals. Those old ranches don't have much, but they do have great food. Eat up. When I worked the ranches, grocery's were a given. Could pick up grocery's at the local store and just charge it. So eating was a given. hahaha Charge anything you wanted as far as grocery's went. But you worked for what you got. 15-20 hours a day. But it was good work. Not hard, just long.
