Anything fun to do besides Yellowstone? Skiing, tubing, shopping, site seeing, golf? Would like to take some pictures from a mountain top looking at the beautiful scenery.

I think there is a buffalo jump and some pictographs nearby and as far as tubing goes, it's a bit late in the season for that but you could go fishing from a boat or from the shore of the Yellowstone River.

Yeah, my grandma in Billings says they have already got a dusting of snow over the past couple of weeks. Forties and maybe even high thirties the high today and tomorrow; maybe it will warm up to the low fifties but doing much apart from winter sports in Yellowstone or the Beartooths (as far as outdoor activities go) is done for the year.

It's supposed to be in the low 50's as the high when I'm there. Hopefully it's not to windy and I'll play some golf, drive through YS and do some shopping with the wife.

Are there any mountains to go skiing or tubing on this time of the year within a reasonable drive, 3 hrs?

No to skiing or tubing. You're about a month early.

Do you have any idea how long it will take you to drive to Yellowstone, drive through it, then return to Billings? I'd plan to overnight in the park.

Brother has been a bunch of times and says the drive to the entrance is 3 hrs. I talked to him and we're going to stay the night there. Time to find some nice hotels with hopefully nice views.

Wow, that was a long plane ride and drive into YS. Landed around 1:30 and headed to YS at 2pm. Got to the entrance around 5 or so. And the roads were BAD. Took us about 4 hours to get to West YS. Didn't have long to do anything but YS is beautiful. Here's some pics I got with my 5yr old point and shoot.

This was at West YS when we woke up Sunday

Old Faithful

This was on the way out

Can anyone guess what made these tracks?

And YS seems to have a ton of dead trees. We seen plenty of bison (though I was told by a local they are Buffalo), mule deers?, 2 bald eagles and 2 foxes that were 1/2 mile away that looked to be playing.

Well, you made it there, and now you've seen Yellowstone in winter--something that most visitors never get to see. The bison are locally called buffalo, but that's a misnomer--they're really bison. Still,"buffalo" sounds more like the Old West! The dead trees are from the giant fire years ago. It'll take a long time before the landscape has bounced back.
Beautiful pics, thanks for sharing!
