Smile Powder River County, Montana

Anyone know anything about Powder River County. I see the population is under 2,000, but I cannot find much more about the county other than limited information on Bradus. What is the big game and pheasant hunting like in that area? Are the rural roads impassable in winter and are there a lot of areas "off-the-grid" in that county. Any information on what it would be like to live there would be appreciated. Married no school age children. Thank you in advance.

i dont know a whole lot but i used to travel through there with some frequency from gillette, wyoming to my realitives homes in central montana.most of the people there are ranchers.there are a lot of antelope and mule deer.i hear bird hunting is also good.broadus seems to be a nice little town but there isnt much going on there.your nearest employment would likely be gillette, wyoming which isnt exactly around the corner,i guess around 100 miles south.land is fairly cheap and the people pretty pleasent but if you need a job i think you'll have limited options.a lot of people dont find the area very scenic either though some would disagree.

My relatives homesteaded in this area from 1917-1937 on the Pinecrest ranch close to Broadus. A lot of sage brush and no water.Hanno
