Default Montana juvenile courts

I have a question

My kid is on probation (again) and his probation officer still is under the belief that my son is "good"

There have been some things said to my son about me and my spouse. We have had it w/her and her bad mouthing us (apparently she thinks all my kids problems are because of us even though he was kicked out of my brother's house after 10 months and his grandfather wants not much else to do with him) He is failing in school (for the 6th year running) he was busted for shoplifting and the list goes on.

We need to know where we can file a complaint against this probation officer as she is saying things that are quite inappropriate about us to our kid.

We have tried searching the net to no avail. Can anyone help w/this info?

I feel for you, having been one of those kids I now know how tough it is. I would go to the P.O.'s supervisor and have a chat. My P.O. pretty much blamed everything on my parents (most was deserved) but never told me I was accountable or suggested at 15 I should control myself. Maybe reassign the kid to a new p.o.?
Also, having been one of "those" kids might I suggest boot camp? I wish this was possible when I was that age (30+ years ago) and to tell the truth I didn't straighten out until I went to USMC boot camp. It took that to make me realize the world was not all about me and that I was responsible for my own behaivor at that age, not my parents.
Now that I'm raising a son I am of the firm belief that if he ever gets out of control like I did out he goes.... I love my kid but sometimes they need the reality of what being on their own is like.
I wish you luck, it's a tough road to travel.....
If I can give you anymore perspective from the "inside" feel free to PM me.....

Post Juvenile System

I stumbled across your posting on pue "luck". I too am having difficulty with the probation dept. I have a 15 year old son....problems began to SERVERLY escalate a year ago. Drugs, threats of stabbing people(I have recorded tapes of such conversations), possesing switch blade knives, building bombs, ect. I have taken this information to probation......they turn their head stating that "he has not done anything YET"......My son has violated probation: continues to use drugs, make threats, leaves the county, gets into fights, ect and he is never violated. They "stories" are endless. I have had him in shodair, he just recently spent 9 days at JDC detetion center and because his behavior there was "unruly" the group home will not take him.......What does probation do? Asks him where he would like to go? !?!?!?! He had an evaluation while at the detention center.......the repoert shows him as depressed, opositional defiant, passive-aggressive behaviors, ect The probation dept. has threatened to press charges against me if I do not consent to further evaluations/treatments. My son refuses treatment and I spent well over 10,000 for the one week he was in shoair. (I'm far from rich!) Interesting that probation threatens me with charges, (which my lawyer has advised to be absurd) yet I had no say as to them releasing my son to a parent that I do not consent to. (This parent ignores when I have given my son a curfew and keeps him out until HE decides he wants to come home, she has dropped him off to his drug dealer, ect.) Also interesting that probation disclosed to me today that they in fact did no back round check of any sort on this parent, but rather said that this parent has conversed w/ them to make these arangements! Since when has probation had the LEGAL right to give information of a minor child to an unauthorized/non related person? I think we need to form a support group and all come together! I'd be willing to have this at my home or office. There are too many details in these circumstances to ever post. Anyone wishing to unite and truely do what is in the best INTEREST OF OUR CHILDREN, please let me know! Best Regards, Jody
