Hey people, I think you need to tone down the hate in here a little bit. I've read a few of these past couple of comment's and I not liking what I'm hearing at all. (not Jimi or JoeJoe Or Rickers or anyone for that matter, I guess it really doesn't matter.)

I hear you man, I've got **** stolen from me and caught'em red handed, I lived right down the street from Pesci Lane in Ronan (indian housing) caught them riding around on a brand REDLINE ($340)bike that My father just Bought me, they destroyed it, I'm A "First Descendent" and I know quite a few Natives and I think that some of these Judgments in here kind of off color.

Speaking of Kwatuknuk Did you see the Ron Paul supporters there?

Touchy subject but at least a dialogue is happening. I may not like what everyone says but I have no problem with them saying it and letting out the frustration with events as they see things.
I think this is how "grown ups" should do things rather than being afraid of the PC police and bottling it up...

As for RP supporters, all 2 of them, or was there more?

Well I hope I can help with some basic facts on land on a rez, worth, yada yada. Now I assume ya all are talking about federally reconized tribes on rezervations LOL. Even if Im also part indian from a MT tribe you can only be enrolled on one reservation. They each have there own enrollment rules but I notice up this way you need to be 1/4 of that band. The houseing is the same funds for public houseing in say Missoula only a lot of times funding does not get that far (reservations) so now and then that looks bad so they put something in to appease them LOL.

The land on the reservation Im enrolled for example just sits since so maney different names own it from being passed down to desendents of enrollee's that dont even live there. You could not built, or live on it unless you got all the thousands of names on that little stretch to agree to it, it be impossible to find them so it sits. The US Goverment has to have that or you cant live on it, sell it. Seams odd to non Indians to imagine this.

Reservations are the only place communism works so said Russ Means. That was about the only thing I ever agreed with that he said. Indians all pay taxes just like anyone else, income tax, payroll so on. Land that the tribe owns (tribal Goverment owns and runs for the people ) or run it for themselves and not the people. They are tax exempt, like a non profit but we all know how that is. Some biz tribes own pay huge taxes depending on the location as in off tribal lands.

There is no check to live on for being a Indian anymore so a poor white guy in White Fish MT. They all apply for the same stuff from the county social services.

When a tribe can come up with funds they argue for matching fed funds like the rest of the pack in MT or anyplace. He who got the most cousins in da right place may fair well. A lot of us call some funds "Throw money at the Indians" thats money that just keeps people holding out there hands with no real way to move up and out of dependencey. It makes the politicans look like they care about us, makes a few libs less guilty but is a huge waste.

A lot of talk in Indian Country is on ways to empower people to get by on there own, how to do this, repairing from high rates of alcoholism, education as Natives are now trying to enter the political arena, something we stayed away from in non indian areas.

I wish all wise and knowing Zhoon mennishoosh (junebug) LOL had the answers but I dont. I can understand thinking we as a people should be assimulated. Well its hard to assimulate if your not wanted!. I dont drink and nice, pay my rent and such. I can pass as white if I bleach my hair even and get the "move back to the rez" attitude.

In North Dakota Im going to say we have just as maney if not more Indians than Montana. In the largest City I worked in a medical detox and local Indians where the lowest number that used services there! yet American Indians from North Dakota are the highest group being homeless. They say we rate right in with the next group being immgrants.

Now overall I think people in Montana and ND are nice people all around, we are down to earth types, common sense. Its all who is in the Goverment at times and there feelings seam to reflect the attitude on acceptance or not.

I personally dont feel I have to assimulate, just be a good neighbor and play by the rules. If you take people one at a time its much easier than taking them all in as a group. Indians come from several tribes, they dont generally speak for other Indians just themself. I think American Indians have the same values as non Indians from the same area. The difference is that some lands to hold a religous value for better words. Just like the Bible that had prophets well we had our share here in North America. Now this common belief of indigonous tribes all over North America will be why some lands will never pass over to non native hands, to risky, against what was asked. They will hold it for all peoples best interest in there belief. Land such as the Black Hills.

When that land is abandoned by them then I suppose the Goverment could reclaim it, no Indians to retaliate. You see a lot of poor Indians useing your tax money, more whites are actually useing tax money, there just not as obvious as neon lights pointing to the casino LOL

Don't get me wrong I like Ron Paul, but I also realize that he hasn't got much chance of really getting elected. Reminds me of the situation that Ross Perot and Dennis Kucinich found themselves in. Lots of Ideas but no real mass support. Oh I must add that in no way do I link a persons support for a candidate with any bad behavior that the supporter demonstrated ! I don't enjoy being hit in the head with a toy no mater what political button their wearing !
