Do Montanans tend to support Seattle and Portland sports team, have relatives over there, and such? Or is it pretty much a completely separate community?

I know several Montanan's that have moved to the coast for jobs, one of my friends in Everett Washington says the Montana day picnic over there is huge each year.

Politically, socially, Portland and Seattle may as well be on seperate planets from Montana.

Which sport teams are in Portland and Seattle?

I like the Seattle Mariners and the Seahawks. The sports team draws here seem split between Seattle and Denver, although actually here in NW Montana I think Calgary, Alberta is closer.

If Washington=Seattle and Oregon=Portland, then Montana-at-large would not have much in common with either state. Keeping in mind that there's much more to both of those states than their largest cities, I would suggest that Montana has just as much in common with WA and OR as it does with ID or WY in the socio-cultural sense.

I have found that my kids and their friends are Denver Bronco fans since we moved here.

I lived in the Seattle area for 35+ years and expected us to stay Mariner, Sonics, Seahawks, etc... fans no matter what. I was disappointed .

I have found people like whatever sports teams they like. To think that there are strong ties to the left coast is only something that those along the I90 corridor would dream up. In my personal opinion if you like a left coast team, then you need to move there.

We drive up to Calgary every year for hockey games.

I've noticed a lot of Denver sports fans and some Seattle. I know more people who GO to Seattle though.

Culturally? Worlds apart.
