Hello all,
I just got a job in Billings and am planning on looking for an apartment next weekend. Does anyone have any suggestions (or warnings) about any apartment complexes/companies, anything you may have heard from others perhaps? The few ratings on apartmentratings.com are either mixed or negative, so I'm looking for more opinions - plus like I said, there's only a few on there.

Just an FYI, not a lot of people regularly post on this forum, and only a few of those are from Billings that would be able to answer your question.

I live almost 250 miles from Billings, I don't shop there usually, don't go there for dining on a regular basis, so how would I have any idea about renting an apartment there?

You can look online a the local paper, the Billings Gazette, The Billings Gazette - Montana & Wyoming News
You can contact local realtors or go on craigs list, but anybody looking for a place there is ultimately going to have to do their own legwork.

One other thing to remember is that it is summertime here, lots of work to be done in a short period of time before the snows set in again, so not everybody is sitting at their computer. Gets pretty quiet on this board when the fish are running or the gardens are producing or the big game seasons open.

Better things to do. I would rather be sitting on a stream with my fishing rod today too, but the job to pay for doing what I like to do comes first.

I would say that you probably want to stick to the west side of Main Street in the Billings Heights or west of 12th street in the West End. Stay away from areas south and south east of downtown Billings.

The apartment complexes in Billings tend to be smaller and less corporate than in other areas like CO or CA. You may want to contact a local realtor to see if they know some landlords with small houses or condos. They can be cheaper than some apartment.
